Aditya (Akshay Kumar) is a champ driver and so he has chosen the profession of an automobile engineer and a test driver in a car company. He is too passionate about cars. He is engaged to Sonia (Bipasha Basu). She is a fashion designer and is on her way to make a mark in her career. She is a girl of modern thoughts and career is her topmost priority in her life. She believes in changing according to time and this is where the differences between her and Aditya arise. Aditya tries not to think of the aspects but he can hardly leave them away.

Their marriage date is fixed but in the meantime Aditya has to leave for Canada to learn about the new technique of a new car model to be launched in India soon. Sonia also leaves for Paris for a fashion show there. Aditya takes up a place there provided by his company. He meets his sister Simran (Bhagyashree) and visits them often.  In Canada he comes across Jia (Katrina Kaif) daughter of business tycoon and they keep bumping into each other frequently. She has come there to shop for her wedding with fiancé Karan Raichand. Jia is a simple girl who has got everything in her life except love from her busy father. And once again she craves for love from her fiancé who has no time to spare for her. She finds all that she wishes in Aditya, a friend and love that she desires. They share intimate moments and they forget about their engagement to their fiancés. Love turns deep and it becomes impossible for them to do without each other.

But soon a misunderstanding rises between Aditya and Jia. Jia returns back to India to get married with Karan. Aditya also comes back to India to get married with Sonia and does not attempt to meet Jia ever again. But fate brings them together again!
