Director Vishnuvardhan and music director Yuvanshankar seem to share great rapport. They had earlier worked together in ‘Arindhum Ariyamalum’ and its album was instrumental to its success. Yuvanshankar has yet again composed some rocking music for ‘Pattiyal’. A song, which has a trace of yesteryear hit song “Adaludan Padalai” is the highlight of the album. Ilayaraja sings this song. Yuvanshankar also sings a couple of songs. However, the film has young actors Arya, Bharath, Pooja and Padmapriya in the lead roles.

The album starts with the song “Dei Namma”. This racy number provides good momentum to the album. Vijay Yesudas has sung the song really well and his voice is a spice. Yuvan has once again composed a good orchestration with suitable western beats. He knows how to reach the hearts of the youngsters.

“Yedhedho” is another good song. Yuvan’s composed voice is the highlight of the song. Shwetha and Raja also have provided good support to him. His harmony is superb. In fact, he has taken lots of care not to let his music dominate Pa Vijay’s lyrics.

“Poga Poga” is a foot-tapping number. Yuvan is known for mixing contemporary numbers with rap, and this number gives just that. It begins with soothing rap and the youthful tunes that follow add charm to it. Haricharan, Vijay, Saindhavi and Harini Sudhakar have made the song peppy by providing fresh voices. The use of keyboards has added to the beauty of the song. This number will hit the music charts hard.

“Namma Katulae” is very good song with enthusiastic and fast tune. It is perhaps the best song of the album. Ilayaraja has shown his prowess once again by rendering the number so well. Roshini also has supported him well. Yuvan deserves praises for mixing Adaludan Padal song from Kudi Irunda Kovil so well. The use of instruments like Thavuil also has made this song a beauty. Masses will surely love this number

“Kannai Vittu” is another fast number. Yuvan seems to have good understanding with director Vishnuvardhan. Having worked with him in ‘Arindhum Ariyamalum’, he knows his taste. And this racy song reveals it all. Yuvan Shankar and Premji have sung the number quite well. In fact, their voices get along so well.

In a nutshell, Yuvan Shankar deserves all the accolades and praises for making the album of ‘Pattiyal’ a rocking one. Music lovers should not miss this wonderful music.
