Movie Review : Lakshmi

Music: Ramana Gogula

Family values and sibling love are sure to work in Tollywood if right treatment is given to it, and ‘Lakshmi’ is one such film that has it all. It is overemotional at times but hero Venkatesh’s histrionics and director VV Vinayak’s skills have made everything work.

In the film, Lakshmi Narayana (Venkatesh) owns a huge business empire and he loves his sisters and brothers very much. But things changed when Janardhan (Sayi Shinde), an employee of his empire starts creating evil thoughts in the minds of Lakshmi’s brothers and sisters.

Lakshmi leaves everything to his brothers and sisters. There is suspense in his real relationship with them. Meanwhile, a flashback reveals that he has a romantic interest with a girl (Nayantara) when he was in Kolkata. He also has a secretary in his company (Charmi). The rest of the film is all about his background, his love interest and whether the rowdies defeat him.

Venky plays the role of a loving brother with ease and vigor. He is misunderstood in the film but he carries everything with manly vigor and his body language tells it all. His dance sequences with Charmi and Nayantara are full of fun and entertainment. The heroine of the film Nayantara seems to understand the nuances of her character, as she has done justice to her role. Charmi is full of confidence and she has done her part neatly especially the dance sequences.

Other cast of the film like main villain Sayaji Shinde, Rajiv Kanakala and Sharvanand are fine but Pradeep Rawat has nothing much to do. Venu Madhav has achieved in bringing the house down. Ramana Gogula’s music is one of the highlights of the film. He has come out with some sweet melodies and mass numbers. The cinematography is also fine. Director V V Vinayak has played it safe. He has achieved what he wanted and delivered to the right audience. On the whole, ‘Lakshmi’ is a good entertainer though there is nothing new in the storyline.
