All films of Amitabh Bachchan are much awaited. And a film like ‘Ek Ajnabee’ can only add to the thrill as we see Big B doing something different with the action genre after the emotional push-ups. Being one of the most impressive films of the recent time counting by its looks and promos, the film is on a watch out by the audience. Apoorva Lakhia who had taken on Abhishek Bachchan in his debut venture ‘Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost’ returns back to direct the father with this.  After composing for ‘Sarkar’ we see the name of Amar Mohile flashing as the music director of this film too. Composer duo Vishal-Shekhar handles the title song of the album.

The album begins with the title number ‘Ek Ajnabee (Mama Told Me)’. Vishal Dadlani words the song as well provides the background vocals in English for it. Sunidhi Chauhan and Sukhwinder Singh turn to the mike for the main rendition. Going by the recent success that the composers have met with their composition for ‘Dus’, it seems that they have got the knack to create such numbers. However this time it fails to create the spark if compared to the former hits. Otherwise the song is good to hear with the zeal thronging throughout.

Amar Mohile composes the next track ‘Barf Khushi Hai’ with lyrics by Jaideep Sahni. A touching emotional number sung by Kailash Kher, it throws light on protagonist Amitabh Bachchan. More of a philosophical track, it is infused with pain and slow pace to give the authentic feel. The words and the vocals give the track an impact.

Another situational song in the row is ‘Tere Liye’ featuring the relationship of Amitabh Bachchan and the small girl in the film. This is another heartfelt number rendered with profundity by Kunal Ganjawala. The verses of Sameer heighten the effect as the melody soothes your senses. Fused with western instrument and Indian tuning, the song grows on you as you hear it again and again.

Actor Sanjay Dutt goes for a special featuring in the track ‘They Don’t Know’. The song has added to the publicity of the film and is more likely to be aired as a promotional number.  Kunal Ganjawala does the crooning with add on of a husky voice in the words of Lalit Tiwari. The tune lingers, as the song ends with you craving for more. The number takes a more smashing turn in the remix version ‘Blast U Between Your Eyes remix’. High charged with energy and pulsating feel, this is one number that’ll keep rocking a long way.

In the same breath we’ve ‘Soniye’ in the electrifying voices of Sunidhi Chauhan and KK. An absolute number to be a hit in the party circles, like the many more we have already encountered this year. Bhangra beats and pace dominates the number as it heads being one of the quality songs of the soundtrack. Keeping the boogie feel on the rise there is also the remix version ‘Soniye Mix N Match Remix’, all ready to get to the charts.

Aptly made for a film of thriller genre is ‘Stranger On The Prowl’. Shilpa Rao backs the song with her vocals coordinating with the theme of the film. Likely to be a background score, one doesn’t mind hearing it as a musical piece too.

‘Ek Ajnabee’ is a mix and match of thrilling, emotional, instrumentals, situational and remix numbers. But one element that runs through all of them is the pace and the zeal that keeps you on the move. The enthusiasm catches on you as the thrill thickens. Enjoy the action all the way!
