Movie Preview : Deewane Huye Paagal

Producer:  Firoz Nadiadwala
Director:  Vikram Bhatt
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Shahid Kapoor, Sunil Shetty, Om Puri, Rimmi Sen
Music: Anu Malik

Two elements have hit the trend of the industry, surely taking a film to the doors of success - multi star cast and fun on the run. The next film from the house of Firoz A. Nadiadwala ‘Deewane Huye Paagal’ boasts of both the things. Directed by Vikram Bhatt, this madcap comedy film has in the lead Shahid Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Om Puri and Rimii Sen. A dog and a parrot are also in important roles. Apart from the big star cast, the film has foot-tapping music by Anu Malik. Kiran Kotrial has penned the screenplay with dialogues by the well-known writer Neeraj Vora along with Abbas Hirapurwala.

Karan (Shahid Kapoor) is a sweet lover boy who has his eyes fixed on Tanya (Rimii Sen). He dreams of spending a romantic blessed life with the girl but gets into mayhem due to her. Tanya actually has a close guarded secret that the villains of the film are in search for. So she flees to Dubai to get rid of the whole thing. Karan on the persuasions of his friends enrolls Rocky (Akshay Kumar), an attractive investigator to track her down. Rocky finds her and also finds his heart fluttering away to her. Karan, Tanya and Rocky form a triangle, with Sanju (Suniel Shetty) entering the scene to add another angle to it. He is Tanya’s friend, a handicap man who is also in awe of Tanya. Rocky and Sanju get into a rift over the girl, with one trying to outsmart the other all the time. To add to the confusion Paresh Rawal also loses is heart over her. Con men and lovelorn men follow Tanya everywhere she goes, leading to one hilarious episode after another. The film culminates in fun.

‘Hera Pheri’ and ‘Deewane Huye Paagal’ the former films of the banner brought the house down with laughter. This film too promises to be an engrossing entertainer but with more fun all the way. Loaded with sharp twists and turns, set in the locales of US and Dubai, this is one film to watch out for. This non-stop laugh riot is ready to take over you at the theatres in November 2005.
