‘Garam Masala’ is another spicy and comedy flavored film by the maker of ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Hungama’, ‘Hulchul’, the one and only Priyadarshan who has made a penchant with this genre of cinema. He repeats the pair of Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal once again after ‘Hera Pheri’ and brings in John Abraham to play the other lead. Making debut against them are three young actresses Daisy, Neetu, Nargis and Rimmi Sen. The music reins for the film is in the hand of Preetam with Sameer at the helm of lyrics.
The rocking great track ‘Ada’ by Sonu Nigam is an instant attraction. Lively, high energy and full of fun, Sonu sings praises flirtatiously about girls in the track. Pacy rhythm, freaky musical arrangements, good tune and catchy lyrics prove to be the strength of the track. This one is a chartbuster and will keep the Diwali season high in spirits. There is also a ‘remix version’ by DJ Suketu that is also totally engrossing.
The rhythm continues with the punjabi bhangra styled track ‘Chori Chori’. The fusion and western feel will make it a delight on the dance floors. Hema Sardesai and Sukhwinder Singh give their energetic input to the track and make it sound different from the commonly heard numbers. There is also another version of the same track by Labh Jajua (Punjabi MC). With a refreshing sound and a dose of rap ‘n’ reggae, it sounds interesting. Foot tapping music follows with ‘Kiss Me Baby’ sung solo by Adnan Sami. The pep and energy works fine, with the songs not offering much in regard to musical antics. But like the other tracks so far, it also has a catchy appeal and a rhythm that is sure to get popular.
Fun pumps once again for the next number ‘Falak Dekhun’. Sonu Nigam gives his best to the love song that is pacy and catchy once again. The lyrics are by Mayur Puri. Pritam is in for some fun with the music of the film. Another version of the same number comes up with Udit Narayan doing a slower rendition this time.
‘Dil Samunder’ sung by K.K and Sunidhi Chauhan brings the album to a close. Loaded with beats, pace and rhythm, this is another track that will make its impact felt. Pritam needs a pat on his back for the music.
The album gives the message about the film clear. Pumped with pace and energy, you are always on the move and enjoying the ride all through. Though there is no particular innovative input from Pritam, yet for the enjoyable numbers you can’t complain against him.
