‘Armaan’ is a movie by Honey Irani with a bunch of stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Randhir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Preity Zinta, Gracy Singh. The movie may or may not have caught your attention, but what won’t go a miss is the soundtrack. And why not when the trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is at the composer’s chair, can anything justifiably go wrong!

The first track proves it all. ‘Mera Dil Ka Tumse Hi Kehna’ with Chitra wielding a bubbly and fun-filled track is wholesome. You’ll just get stuck to it just as the track has got uprightly stuck at the countdowns. The vocal and the composition blend in superbly making the track awesome.

The grace of the first song continues in the second too. Here is a fresh, softy and subtle romantic song ‘Meri Zindagi Main Aye Ho’ by Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan. The duo wraps up with a fabulous job. Javed Akhtar’s lyrics seem like icing the cake. The symphony sounds good and a saxophone piece adds to the galore.

‘Main Gaoon Tum Gao’ is the title track with the words ‘Yeh Armaan’ just munching in. Udit Narayan, Shaan, Mahalaxmi Iyer, and Bhairavi Kumble, do a fine job.

For ‘Jaane Yeh Kya Ho Gaya’, the next song, Alka Yagnik steals the show. Along with Shankar Mahadevan she decorates her vocals with a western zeal making the track an unforgettable one.

A situational track ‘Aaon Milke Aise Gaayen Aisa Gaana’ sung by Udit Narayan, Amitabh Bachchan, Shankar Mahadevan, Mahalaxmi Iyer and a chorus by children. Though the song is not as richer in melody as the other tracks of the album, yet it lends a fun-filled time.

A philosophical track is ‘Tuhi Bata Zindagi’, which strikes a very soulful note. It repeats twice, with one version by Roop Kumar Rathod and another by Shreya Ghosal. The song owes its greatness for the lyrics of Javed Akhtar.

At the closure appears the instrumental track ‘Jugalbandi’. Righteously it’s a mixture of everything. It’s a good number that will pick on you soon.

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy comes out triumphant with a touch of class for each and every song. Javed Akhtar, as always is appraisable too. It’s a great treat for every music soul and also for the one who is not. The album is entitled for glory!
