Movie Review : Pyaar Mein Twist

Producer: Sahara One Motion Pictures
Director: Hriday Shetty
Cast: Dimple Kapadia, Rishi Kapoor, Sameer Dattani, Soha Ali Khan
Music: Jatin Lalit

‘Pyaar Mein Twist’ is a film on mature romance, presented in a lighthearted way by director Hriday Shetty. After the thriller ‘Plan’ which didn’t prove fruitful at the box office, he turns to direct a romantic film. The film is inspired from the Hollywood flick ‘Yours, Mine And Ours’ and has been presented in the Bollywood style by the director.

The narrative tells the story about two forlorn mature people, who have everything in their life except the company of their love. They seek partners, who can be compatible, comforting and understanding and spend with them the remaining days of their life. The film has an intrepid outlook and to cash on the veteran stars in today’s films can indeed prove challenging. But you can be rest assured when you see the ‘Bobby’ pair Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia once again getting ready to romance in the ‘Saagar’ style.

The narrative is about two mature and adult individuals, with grown up children who meet in the cross roads of life and decide to go together from there. Yash Khurana (Rishi Kapoor) was a great father and a good friend. He was the maker and breaker of destinies and also was a big business tycoon. He had many industries and he was efficient in controlling them. But one day he lost his heart and everything changed ever since.

Sheetal Arya’s (Dimple Kapadia) life too changed the same day when destiny brought her and Yash together. She was already a mother in law by then and was also loved by her son-in-law and her daughter. A great entrepreneur and also a great house maker, Sheetal was best in doing everything. But after she fell in love with Yash Khurana, she was no more the same.

Both the families of the middle aged couple stood up in arms against each other and also their parents unable to understand the sudden turn of affair. But what Sheetal and Yash were feeling were beyond their understanding. Because they were truly, madly and deeply in love with each other!

The story is like a breeze of fresh air touching you, because of its novel feel.  With the underlying message that love never grow old, the film moves on giving the utmost priority to Rishi, Dimple while Soha Ali Khan, Vikas Bhalla, Samir Dattani get sidelined in the script. Though the love of the older couple looks interesting, the young romance of Samir-Soha fails to create a stir in the narrative. The popping songs just halt the pace of the film and this also proves to be a disadvantage.

Hriday Shetty has handled the reigns of direction well. He has executed the film well and wonderful. The film has a good factor and a positive feel to add to the vibrancy. Rishi and Dimple overshadow the rest of the cast with their brilliant take. The film makes it obvious that just like love, the two can also never grow out of time.

A good and appreciable film that is meant for young and old irrespective of their age!
