The talented director Nagesh Kukunoor is hitting the news once again for tying up with the Mukta Arts banner for his forthcoming film ‘Iqbal - The Rampur Express’. With the A-list stars like Shreyas Talpade, Shweta Prasad, Girish Karnad, Kittu Gidwani and Naseeruddin Shah, there can be little doubts about the film. Making his entry into cinema is the cricketing legend Kapil Dev. He will enact a petite and pivotal role in ‘Iqbal’. Formerly he had been seen in a special appearance in Sajid Nadiadwala’s ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’. The plot revolves around cricket but it is unlike any other film made on the game in the past. The film is about the protagonist Iqbal (Shreyas Talpade), who has big dreams in his eyes. He aspires to be in the national cricket team and the film moves thereon focusing on how he overcomes one hurdle after another, at last to achieve that his heart desired. The events in the process are very real and touching and this makes ‘Iqbal’ special.
Iqbal is a young boy living in a rural village of India. He dreams of being in the national team. He eats cricket, breathes cricket and dreams cricket. Acting as a confidante for him is his sister (Shweta Prasad). She boosts him up whenever he runs down. Iqbal believes that he can reach his goal only with the help of Mohit (Naseeruddin Shah) a drunkard. So both of them gear up to reach new heights. Overcoming the hurdles they reach that prized and precious moment. The musical score is by Sukhwinder Singh, the cinematography by Shudeep Chatterjee and art direction by Sunil Baba. The film is expected to hit the screen this summer.
