The young and the trendy films have done well in the recent times. ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’, ‘Hum Tum’, ‘Dhoom’, are evident to it. The producers and directors believe it to be the safest best to work on. The movie in question ‘Salaam Namaste’ also has that youngy vibe and has been in news for quite sometime now.
After four hits in a row, ‘Dhoom’, ‘Hum Tum’, ‘Veer Zaara’ and ‘Bunty Aur Babli’, Yashraj banner is now gearing up for its forthcoming production venture ‘Salaam Namaste’. The film repeats the hit pair of ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta. This new age love story is directed by debutant Sidharth Anand and is produced by Aditya Chopra.
Vishal and Shekhar after their successful musical hit ‘Dus’ are here to strike another hat trick. The lesser-known lyricist Jaideep Sahni makes to the forefront with this album.
The title song ‘Salaam Namaste’ strikes gold. The song is tailor made for Kunal Ganjawala who gives a tremendous performance. Accompanying him is Vasundhara Das in her notable English style andaaz. She goes effortlessly in the department of crooning this number. The track is hip and the music is happening with pace and zip to keep you on feet. This is certainly a chart busting number that is instantly going to find a place for itself.
The instrumental of the track finds its way as ‘Dhol Mix’ with the remix done by Nikhil Chinappa and Naved. This is nothing remarkable as the song remains as it is with some patchwork here and there. But anyways you will like hearing to it.
Keeping the groovy feel intact, we have ‘My Dil Goes Mmmm’ coming up next. Another girl- boy ched-chaad number much on the line of ‘Hum Tum’ that you’re sure to enjoy. The silky voice of Shaan does an extraordinary job giving a pleasant company to Gayatri Iyer for this duet number. The song hints at likes and dislikes of the living-in pair in the film. The song is another bull’s eye shot that is going to settle down right away.
The good song ‘My Dil Goes Mmmm’ gets brilliant with the remix of the number in an absolute western style ‘English Club Mix’. The number is outstanding and is an ear catcher. It’s remixed by DJ Aqeel and sung by Kunal Ganjawala and Caralisa Monteiro. The pace adds to the zeal making it perfect to ignite the dance floors.
For the third time in a row, ‘My Dil Goes Mmmm’ repeats again as an instrumental. The remix turns absolute rocking stuff in the instrumental way.
The pace never drops and the next song ‘What's Going On’ by Sunidhi Chauhan and Kunal Ganjawala keeps the album moving with consistency. Another situational fun song set in western style of music that is sure to make the tempo right. The music and the lyrics hold your interest throughout as this turns to be another enjoyable affair.
It’s the melody that takes its turn now with Mahalaxmi Iyer and Sonu Nigam doing the soft mushy romantic number ‘Tu Jahaan’. The track gets beautified with the lovely lyrics that lace it. Needless to say that the vocals of Sonu just work wonder. The track comes as a fresh change to the soundtrack.
The album is much awaited due to the big names and the good feel associated with it. Like the other musical hits of Yashraj banner this too is a reckoning album. The soundtrack has the capability to keep the flag of the big banner flying. The album is pleasure listening to and one is satisfied no doubt about it. The entertainment and the appeal are awesome. But one doesn’t fail to notice that other than the title track ‘Salaam Namaste’, there is no other track in the album that can reach the finishing line. However English version of ‘My Dil’ may prove to be a closest competitor.
For now rush to the nearest music store to get a hand on the album, before it goes out of stock!
