Hinting at the change of style of film making in Bollywood, we have a fresh film ‘7 ½ Phere’, an entertainer on the adventure of marriage. This is the first film of Isshaan Trivedi as a director and has Juhi Chawla and Irfaan Khan in the lead. The film is basically a lighthearted comedy, with entertainment running all around, about marriage and a reporter exploring the life of the people gathered there. It brings to light, behind the doors story of the people in whose household a marriage in taking place, in a humorous way. And doing the job is…

A national TV network gets great success and immense response after airing traditional family serials on air. They want to work on something different now which will be of as much interest to the audience. They come upon the concept of ‘Reality TV’ and choose the subject of Indian marriage and family to work on. The programme is handed over to Asmi Ganatra (Juhi Chawla) a debutant and a first time director. On the basis of search by her team, it’s found out that only Joshi’s family in Mumbai fulfills the criteria.

Asmi visits the Joshi’s who are taken by surprise. Asmi requests them to cover the marriage for the TV show. Mr. Joshi agrees to it though the rest of the family doesn’t show a green signal. Asmi has to make things work to keep her career afloat and ploys a plan. The key to the plan Asmi discovers in Manoj Joshi (Irrfan), bride’s youngest uncle who has fallen for her. She entices him to agree to set-up multi camera secretly in the house.

Asmi’s cameras capture true-life depiction of the family which can stun anybody. The hidden and secret incidents bring to open light the facts and the Joshi’s are uncovered. The Channel gets a boost again with the programme. But that’s not the end of it. There lie more shocks for the Channel and Manoj. What happens next, watch this lighthearted comedy to find out!

This is a film that you can watch out with your family and have a laugh together. The fresh storyline will keep the interest going as long as you don’t pay much heed to the technical side of the film. The humor is good, the situations keep the interest going and the sub plots are well build. And for all of these things you’ll have to give a wholesome credit to Juhi Chawla, the actress who knows to do her job perfectly getting to the skin of the character and livening up the film.

Irfaan Khan so far inclined towards serious acting, takes a break to tickle his bone with the film. Once again he calls for a pat on his back. His expressions catch your eyes. Anang Desai, Neena Kulkarni, Lalit Tiwari, Manish Choudhary and Manini De in supporting cast are fine.

Enjoy marriage with this entertaining film, as you discover hidden truths all the way!
