Movie Preview : Athadu

Producer: Kishore D, Rammohan M R
Director: Trivikram
Cast: Mahesh Babu, Trisha
Music: Mani Sharma

Dialogue writer Trivikram’s ‘Athadu’ starring Mahesh Babu and Trisha in the lead role is his second directorial venture. The film is produced by D. Kishore and M. Rammohan under the banner of Jayabheri art productions. Trivikram’s first film was ‘Nuvve Nuvve’ which was commercially unsuccessful. This film is inspired by the Hollywood movie ‘Assassin’ and the novel ‘Da Vinci Code’. The only striking difference is that in the Hollywood film the baddie was played by a robot whereas here it’s played by a contract killer.

Mahesh Babu plays a rough, innocent and stark personality and a man of very little words.  He has an etched out character to render in the film. He plays a contract killer who is given the job to assassinate a VIP. As he sets to fulfill his mission he discovers that the VIP is already killed. He rushes out of the place safely and meets Rajeevi Kanakala in the train. As they try to get down at a station someone shoots at Mahesh but luck kills Rajeevi. The murderer assumes that Mahesh has died. Mahesh now becomes Rajeevi and goes to a village. Find out with Mahesh the unsolved mysteries at the theatres.

The presentation of the film is very stylish and all they characters add to the dimension. A song has been featured on Mahesh and Trisha at the locales of Darjeeling and Calcutta. The film has action by Peter Heins and for one particular action shot he had used 160 still cameras from London and 500 frames still cameras in the milieu of a church. To shoot the fight scene it took 27 days. This action scene is one of the highlights of the film.  Art director Thota Tharani has also done a remarkable work constructing a palatial house set.

Others in the cast of the film include Sonu Sood, Kota, Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam, Giri Babu, Naasar, Brahmanandam, Sunil, Rallapally, Tanikella Bharani, Sayaji Shinde, Charan Raj, Rahul Dev, Anant, Brahmaji, Giridhar, Sudha, Hema, Sruthi, Harika, Sana, Jayaprakash Reddy, Gundu Hanmantha Rao.

The film has music by Manisharma. Sirivennela has penned the lyrics. The choreography is by Raju Sundaram, Brinda and Vaibhavi Merchant. Editing for the film is by Srikar Prasad and cinematography by K.V. Guhan. The story, screenplay and dialogues are by Trivikram.
