Movie Preview : Barsaat

Producer: Suneel Darshan
Director: Suneel Darshan
Cast: Bipasha Basu, Bobby Deol, Priyanka Chopra
Music: Nadeem Shravan

Suneel Darshan is now ready for the release of his forthcoming film ‘Barsaat’ which will open at the theatres on August 19th. The film is about a married couple. The plot revolves around a woman who is uncertain if her husband will return back to her. She is married to a Punjabi male who leaves his wife in the country and goes abroad to make money and earn a better living. This is a common trend now in Punjab. The males leave the city and his wife never to come back again and at times some do come back. All the twists and turns in the film revolve around this theme itself.

Priyanka plays a simple girl in the film called Kajol. She comes from a small place. She is very much like the way general women are. Her character and personality is relatable to one and all. She is a married woman who takes care of everything and undergoes a lot of demands because of the culture and the tradition that are loaded on women.

Bipasha plays the character called Anna Virvani in this two lead women film. Both Priyanka and she are in love with Bobby Deol. She is born and brought up abroad in South Africa. She comes from a very well to do and rich family. But she is not a brat like the general girls portrayed in the movies. She lives with my grandfather (Shakti Kapoor) and he means the family to her.

Bobby plays Arav in the film. He is an ambitious guy and for a better income leave home in India and move abroad.  He aspires to become a well-known car designer there. He is already married to Priyanka Chopra back home, but pay no heed to his relation with her and only selfishly strive for his ambition. He meets Bipasha Basu in Cape Town and she enters his life. But he returns back home hearing about his father’s illness. This is what his character is all about, very practical and emotional at the same time.

The film is about family and values. It’s a love triangle but with a very different and realistic storyline. Issues such as divorce and marriage have been dealt with very appropriately and the Indian audience will find the film very relatable.
