Movie Review : Rendella Tarvatha

Producer: Chowdary BVSR
Director: Anand KB
Cast: Dhanush, Gopichand, Sriram Gokul, Sarat Babu
Music: Seshu Kumar P

‘Rendella Taruvata’ is the latest directorial venture of KB Anand which released on 29 July 2005. KB Anand belongs to R.Narayana Murthy scholl of filmmaking. The film is produced by BVSR Chowdary under Suryateja Films banner. Sriji, Gopichand, Sriram (Chakram, Extra), Dhanush (Soggadu) play the lead role in the film. Sarat Babu appears in a vital role in the film.

The premise of the story is about three guys and a girl who are vagabond and free souls. They don’t want to have commitments and responsibilities in life. They don’t want to lead the life like everybody does. They’re against the thought that money and family is everything in life. Kittu (Sriram Gokul), Vamsi (Gopichand), Madhu (Dhanush) and Malathi (Sriji) are bonded together by friendship. Malathi works under Gandham (Sarat Babu) in an ad company. One day Malathi introduces her three male friends to him. Gandham get impressed by their imagination skill and ropes them in to work in the creative department.

Panchabootam (Melkote) happen to the rival of Gandham in professional regards. Gandham is kidnapped one day and the charges fall on the three guys. The rest of the film follows how they exempt themselves from the charges and unloosen the whole plot.

The film introduces many new faces and talents, but their work of art hardly makes it evident. They have done a good work in regard of their profession. The guys have already acted in some films and this shows how well they’ve been groomed in that aspect. They’ve got a meaty role to enact and they’ve left no stone unturned. Sriji, the only female lead in the film goes fine too. Melkote however happens to the scene-stealer in regard of performance. The role gave him the freedom to prove his mettle as actor. Sarat Babu goes along fine too.

The film begins in an interesting way and holds its grip up till pre interval. The narration has a nice flow and everything seems to fall in place. But the post interval turns to be an absolute downer. The kidnap act in the second half has not been handled properly, loosening the plot. However as a debutant director KB Anand deserves applaud for the work he has done. The comedy scenes have also been handled well. The plus of the film is the first half with well-executed comedy and situational songs and the minus is the second half.

The music of Seshu Kumar P is an added advantage of the film. He has churned out some original tunes, which are instant ear tuners. ‘Chinni Chinni’ and ‘Holi’ are the best in the sound track. Dialogues have been handled well by Ananth. The cinematography of Ramana Salva is also good.

As an experimental film, this should do fine.
