Movie Review : Madarasi

Producer: Subha Sandeep
Director: Arjun
Cast: Arjun, Gajala, Jagapathy Babu, Vivek, Vedhika, Haarika, Manisha
Music: Imman

It is important to include stars from both languages while doing a bilingual film and it has to be loyal to one language. Director Arjun has just done that in ‘Madrasi’. It is more of a Telugu film, as it has lots of action with blood flowing all the time. The shooting was done in Hyderabad studios depicting Dharavi, the world’s biggest slum. Almost all the characters in the film are loud. There are fierce fights between the hero and the villain throughout the film.

Kasi (Arjun) comes to Mumbai to take revenge on the killers of his parents. He kills two of the killers and joins the gang of Ravi Bhai (Raj Kapoor) to eliminate the last man. Ravi Bhai is also fighting against his own brother Mani Bhai (Fefsi Vijayn), whose henchman Siva (Jagapati Babu) is Kasi’s old friend at the Vellore central jail.

Kasi is in love with Anjali (Vedika). Siva is married to Seeta (Gazala) and is very protective of his brother Reghu. Now, old friends Kasi and Siva are at loggerhead, trying to eliminate each other. Later they join hands and fight against Bhai brothers after they loss their near and dear ones.

The film seems to have taken scenes from several other films. There is bloodshed all through and people are hacked to death or killed at point blank at regular intervals. The lead actors of the film either do song sequences or go for killing spree all through. The censor board has rightly given it an "A" certificate.

The technical aspect of the film is impressive and the use of latest technology Digital Imaging (DI) has added beauty to the film. The sets of the film by GK are very good. Iman’s music has nothing special except the remix version of MGR’s old song. ‘Madrasi’ is a typical Arjun film with lots of action.
