Dus the much talked about film of director Late Mukul S. Anand has sprung to life again. After the sudden demise of the director the project was shelved to be regained again by Anubhav Sinha. Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan were in the leading cast then. Now Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Abhishek Bachchan and Zayed Khan play the prime roles. The glam girls gracing the screen are Shilpa Shetty, Esha Deol, Dia Mirza and Raima Sen. Pankaj Kapur, Jawed Sheikh and Gulshan Grover are in pivotal roles. The film is jointly produced by Nitin Manmohan and Sohail Maklai. Most of the things related to the film have changed including the story, only the title remains the same.

The best bet when it comes to the music of a thriller film and cliché film are Vishal- Shekhar. After their successful camaraderie for Kaante and Musafir, they get the penchant again for Dus. High on techno style music intended to shake your leg, Dus is going great guns. The lyrics are by Panchhi Jalonvi.

The song that is on everybody’s lips and regularly flashing in the television promo is ‘Dus Bahane’. In brief it’s rocking and an instant ear picker. Jilting western instruments in Indian style with a dab of rap, it’s the pick of the season. The track is stunning no doubt about it and the voices of KK and Shaan work miracle. Vishal and Shekhar hit the very first ball over the fence for a maximum. The ‘extended version’ appearing later is wrapped with the jolly good feel and goes fine. These two are to tango!

The hangover of the last track continues to the next. ‘Deedar De’ treads the same path of raucous and rollicking music. Sunidhi Chauhan allures the pep of the track with her throaty voice. There are two versions of the song,  ‘Nikhil & Naved Z mix’ and ‘Ranjit Barot mix’. ‘Nikhil & Naved Z mix’ is a Western-Arabian composition with Sufi touches by Krishna. Though it’s a situational song, the music gives the feel of it being an item song. Anyways the strumming pace and mirth will make you a go for it.

If you boomed with the earlier track, you’ll bang with this. ‘Ranjit Barot mix’ is added with more elements to make you swing and sway. It’s fast and racy leaving you out of breathe. Disco is where you should be right at this moment!

For some difference comes ‘Cham Se Wo Aa Jaaye’. This is more of a Jatin Lalit kind of track with family ingredients and soft music nurturing it. Calling in the festive mood are Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Babul Supriyo, Sunidhi Chauhan and Sapna Mukherjee. Traditional Indian instruments give the right touch to it. Vishal and Shekhar exhibit a veiled talent of theirs. The song makes up for a good listening.

Something similar again is ‘Unse Poochhen’ by the dependable duo Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, but it’s no less effective. This is a love song infused with melody presented in a Nikhil Vinay fashion. Though conventional in genre, it goes pleasurable again.

Follows another love ballad ‘Saamne Aati Ho’ in equally soothing manner. In a fluid tone Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan get to the soul of the song. The composition too is equivalent of a stroll in the park. The song calls for a leisurely and pleasurely listening.

In a more softer and subtler way Hariharan and Mahalakshmi go through ‘Jaaniya Ve’. This is really impressive. The touch of sultry and passionate hue passes muster. Just keep yourself flowing in the melody to eternity.

Catching onto tempo once again, the theme track titled ‘Adrenaline Nitrate’ charges your whole self up. The visual with such a track at the background is surely going to set the screen on fire. ‘Make Some Noise’ by Ranjit Barot is the English version of the background theme. The song oozes energy and goes to be an exclusive one. ‘Zalzala’ is also a pacy theme song composed by Ranjit Barot and rendered by Sukhwinder Singh. The lyrics are by Mehboob. The song isn’t promising and is just a passé. This is the only average track of the album.

Heaped with techno stuff, there are more such theme tracks that make for a rocking hearing too. Caralisa Monteiro brings the musical talent to the forefront with ‘Alternate Trance’ a thumping musical bit. Its one of a kind and thoroughly enjoyable. There is another piece called ‘Get Into My Car’ by Caralisa Monteiro, Nandini Srikar and Earl D' Souza. It’s a mix of lounge, rap and Indian music. The tracks will find the crowd falling for them. All of them call for trumps.

The soundtrack promises a whale of time to the listeners. Booming and blasting all through Vishal – Shekhar walks away with applause again. They gain prove that they’re the right choice for those film that calls for attitude and style. It again entitles for taste and sensibilities through a different effort. For now get on an evocative journey with Dus!
