In the film titled ‘Double Cross - Ek Dhoka’ even the audio double crosses you. This is so because all the songs of the album are remixed version of some tracks of yester years. There is not a fresh or a new song that has been composed for the soundtrack. If you’re not too much disappointed with this fact, then you can carry on, for what lies ahead are golden numbers from the oldies. These are the tracks, you had always wanted to give your ears for. The likes of Sheizwood Aashish Shastri, DJ Aqeel, Bhassker Saikiya, Lalit Sen and Shibu Pintu have remixed and compiled the album.
‘Aao Huzoor’ is a classic and it casts a spell over you every time you hear it. The track has already been rebuild umpteen times as remixes, and the younger generation and parties seem to be hugging it. For this album, Sheizwood Aashish Shastri has remixed the song with modern instruments and frontline remix singer Shaswati Phukan has given her voice for it. The song is everlasting and one doesn’t mind hearing it again and again.
‘Hum Bewafa’ from ‘Shalimar’ has touched our hearts over and over again and this time too the effect is nonetheless the same. DJ Aqueel who is one of the best remix directors, composes the remixed version of the song. The new music of Aqueel merges and synchronizes well with the track though it fails to cast the spell that the original one had.
The next is again from the kitty of DJ Aqueel. ‘Jaanu Meri Jaan’ the romantic number from ‘Shaan’ takes over being ‘Jungle Mein Mangal Mix’. Well the song doesn’t call for trumps and fails to impress. A lovely song goes down the drain!
Romance fills the air again with ‘Kya Ghazab Karte Ho Jee’ from ‘Love Story’. The song is melodious as it is and appears the same here too. Bhassker Saikiya accomplishes in his remixing, as he doesn’t try to overdo and torture the song. Debutante Neena Saikiya makes her presence felt with the rendition. One of the glorious hits that keep coming back to us again and again is ‘Laila O Laila’ from ‘Qurbani’. It was a jazzy and groovy number that has always made its listeners boogie-woogie. In this much jazz filled track Lalit Sen just does the basics, leaving it breathe like the original song. Singer Kanchan adds dimension to the track. Overall a number to be enjoyed!
‘Mere Naseeb Mein’ from Naseeb makes its entry with Shaswati Phukan. It is a beautiful song and even in the remixed version remains so. Shaswati Phukan and composer Shibu Pintu walks with all the applause for letting out a relishable track.
‘Nahin Nahin’ from film ‘Jawani Deewani’ remixed by DJ Aqueel had already tasted success long back when it was released. The track is rehashed once again here. The feel and the effect again work wonder.
Its disco time with ‘Pyar Do Pyar Lo’ from Jaanbaaz. In the early 80s the track was a rage and the disco fever creeps on you every time you listen to it. This time its remixed by Aqueel. The after effect will just make you swing and sway!
Pulsating beats and passionate words take over with ‘Udi Baba’ from Vidhaata. Vaishali Samant, M C Sanj and Vijay Prakash gives out the rendition in a hot and wild way, making the visual of the track very obvious to us. The song has not been heard much before and thus appears pretty fresh to our ears.
The remix album comes to an end with ‘Vaada Na Tod’ from ‘Dil Tujhko Diya’ with remix by Sheizwood Aashish Shastri. The original is a melodious track and the remix also turns out to be so with the much-added tempo. Varsha and Xenia Ali do the crooning. This is a nice track to look up to.
This is one of a kind album, featuring all remix numbers. It goes out better to be another remix sound track that is already flooding the markets instead of falling in the category of film music. Anyways one who has a choice of such music, should surely opt for it.
