Movie Review : Bhadra - A remake that kisses the dust

Producer: Dil Raju
Director: Boyapati Srinu
Cast: Ravi Teja, Meera Jasmine, Prakash Raj
Music: Devi Sri Prasad

‘Bhadra’ is the new Telugu film with lead star Meera Jasmine and Ravi Theja. The film is a bloody affair threading around the love of the protagonist. The producer of ‘Dhil’ and ‘Arya’, Shri Venkateshwara Films produces this film. Boyapathi Shreenu directs the film.

Ravi Teja has forever been a mass hero. Likewise his films belong to the genre of mass entertainers.  His talent and appeal is constricted to that. The film is question very much belongs to the mediocre genre, which lacks appeal and luster. All the tried and tested formulas of mass entertainers have been used in the film, which makes it appear pretty exhausted. The plot is outdated and insipid and fragile narration kills it all. Obviously mere picks from some different films aren’t enough to make a film interesting.

The story moves in flashback. Bhadrachalam alias Bhadra (Ravi Teja) is a carefree and footloose kind of a guy. Some difference comes in his life when he sees his friend Deepak’s sister in a VCD. He develops an affection and liking for her. He meets Anu (Meera Jasmine) after she returns back from abroad on completing her studies.

Anu’s elder brother (Prakash Raj) and Veeraih (Biddu Yadav) are into a bloody affair due to hostility between them. Onces loyalist of Biddu’s slaughter many from Anu’s family leaving Anu who is saved by Bhadra. This is when Bhadra comes into action and takes charge to eliminate those who have been causing trouble.

The film resembles Mahesh Babu’s ‘Okkadu’ in many ways. Other than that some scenes bear close resemblance to other films. But the mix and match fail to deliver the necessary content that makes the film a true entertainer.

Ravi Teja appears insipid in acting though excels in action. Meera Jasmine doesn’t have much to do in the small width of her role. Prakash Raj and Pradeep Rawat as brutal man appears the same.

Technically, the film doesn’t astound too. Musical score Devi Sri Prasad falters and fails to keep upto expectation. The cinematography by Arthur Wilson deserves applaud. The direction of Boyapati Sreenu takes a back seat again.
