The most celebrated work of art of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhayaya ‘Parineeta - The Married Woman’ is to appear in the celluloid. Pradeep Sarkar will simplify the film on screens. The script has been retouched by Vinod Chopra and Pradeep Sarkar. The hit pair of ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’ Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Sanjay Dutt can be seen together again along with Saif Ali Khan, Vidya Balan, and Raima Sen. Also appearing in a cameo are Dia Mirza and Rekha.
The music of the film is by Shantanu Moitra and the lyrics are penned by Swanand Kirkire. The plot of the film is based on a timeless story and so the music follows an unconventional route too. It’s not the regular kind of stuff that we encounter everyday. The tunes are soulful and earthy and may not find many takers to its credit. But it is sure to impress the classy and the elite.
The first track itself bowls you over with melody. ‘Piyu Bole’ is a treat by Shreya Ghoshal and Sonu Nigam. In their voice the song passes with sheer comfort. The tune is slow but all the while refreshing. This romantic duet gets its potency with the imbibing music and the refined lyrics that compare love to all the natural things of the earth. Just let your soul rejuvenate with it.
‘Kasto Mazaa’ has the visual appeal on screen what ‘Mere Sapno Ki Rani’ had. The song expresses a lover in search of his love in an expressive manner. The simplicity of the words and music takes over you again. Another extravagant affair by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal who deserve to walk away with all the applause.
By now softness has filled the air and ‘Raat Hamari Ho’ in no way hinders it. Another free flowing track that leaves its mark on your heart and soul. Chitra passes muster with her voice. The music is more Bengali folk based and reflects a feel of tranquility of a dark night through the words. This is truly a classical affair!
‘Kaisi Paheli’ takes you decades back as Sunidhi Chauhan transcends into a classical western show. She waltzes across the octaves with ease and sets another path breaking song to her career. Shantanu Moitra goes beyond all expectations with this song. The lyrics can be said as superlative. If the audio has strummed you over, the visual will be no less appealing featuring glamorous Rekha ruling the screen.
In the vocals of Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal again appears ‘Soona Mann Ka Aangan’. The heart touching lyrics and the penetrating voice along with the top-notch vocals just casts a spell. Representing varied shades of mood, this is another likeable tune.
A traditional song on the ode of a wedding is ‘Dhinak Dhinak Dha’. This is a fun filled song and Rita Ganguly do the most justice to it. Though the track is situational it appears to be in good mirth for the audio too.
For another duet track ‘Hui Main Parineeta’ Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal gets together again. This song is based on the underlying thread of the tune ‘Piyu Bole’. Though the track represents love but the tone is graver compared to the first song.
Your search for something different ends with Parineeta. The scores are just tailor made for the appeal and impact of the film. You understand music with taste and sensibilities through this different effort. For one and all this is a representation of class and splendor. Surely its worth a trip to the neighbourhood superstore!
