The most anticipated and awaited film of the year is out with the audio at last. After a long wait Rajni fans can at last breathe a sigh of relief. And so can Vidyasagar the composer of the music for carrying out the Herculean task of composing music for a Rajanikanth film. This is so for this super star have a multitude fan following and he never wishes to disappoint them in whatever respect. It’s an esteem for music director Vidyasagar to get a chance to compose music for a Rajani starrer as well project his potential. Lets take a round of the soundtrack above the hype and hoopla surrounding it.
‘Annagari Mata’ is typical Rajni style with a Vidyasagar stamp all over it. Belting this fast track are Karthik and Anuradha Sriram. The beats, rhythm and the tune go for an enjoyable affair. But some apt pronunciation would have made it go for a spree.
‘Devuda Devuda’ is a good track for the album. The track looks promising. S P Balasubramanian waltzes across the octaves with ease for this alluring peppy song. The sheer comfort in his voice serves the purpose right. Strumming beats and rhythm dominates the song. Vali pens some distinctive words to suit the image of the superstar in the film.
A raucous and rollicking track is ‘Chiluka Pada Pada’. The instruments of Vidyasagar breathe life to the track. Gangai, Tippu, Rajeshwari and Manickya Vinayagam along with a chorus by kids add charm to the song. But the track has nothing to hold back and is eminently forgettable. The harmony is its plus.
‘Andala Aakashamantha’ passes muster being a soft and melodious song. S P Balasubramaniam’s voice seems taking a stroll in the park for sounding so easy and effective. Vaishali the new talent unfolds her mettle through her rendition. She does a splendid job keeping up to the act of SPB. The song is set in the milieu of Tamil and Malayalam folk. The instrumentation differs from the typical format and brings in a wholesome change.
Sujatha walks away with all the applause for ‘Konta Kalam’. She is assisted by Madhu Balakrishnan a fresh talent who also gives out a commendable performance. The striking aspect of the track is the rhythm that is novel in the true sense. But the track fails to go over the fence for the not-so-good tune and doesn’t live up to the expectations.
‘Varam Nan Unnai Teti’ is completely classical. Doing the effective crooning of the track is singer Nityasri with a massive control over her voice. The orchestration and percussion falls in place.
Vidyasagar hasn’t injected much novelness to the soundtrack and has rather followed a tried and tested method. So the tracks don’t appear to be over the board and sounds rather ordinary. But it definitely serves the purpose. Melody and foot tapping numbers will surely not disappoint the super stars fans.
