Karan Johar has been a successful director with films like ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’and  ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’. His maiden production venture ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ also labeled him as thriving Bollywood filmmaker. Moving away from the family style of movie, he does something different in his next film. Kaal is his forthcoming production venture jointly produced with Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh Khan appears as an item boy in the film for the first time along with Malaika Arora Khan. The star cast includes Ajay Devgan, Vivek Oberoi, John Abraham, Lara Dutta and Esha Deol. Soham Shah who assisted both Karan Johar and Ram Gopal Varma previously, directs the film.

The backdrop of the film is Jim Corbett Park. Krish Thapar (John Abraham) is a research assistant and Riya (Esha Deol) his wife is a photographer of National Geographic. They are invested the job to find out the reason behind the mysterious deaths at the Jim Corbett Park. Everybody assume it to be caused by Man Eating Tigers. Dev (Vivek Oberoi) and Ishika (Lara Dutta) pose as tourist to the park who go there with bunch of friends for some adventure. But suddenly one fine day some creepy and strange things start occurring. They presume it to be some supernatural act. Panic and trauma imbues as death is felt in the air.
 
The visitors come across a village head Kali Pratap Singh (Ajay Devgan) who takes the initiative to guide them. To save their life they join hands him. Watch the film to discover the unknown and unseen force!

The film has music and background score by Salim-Sulaiman. This songless thriller has high anticipations tied with it for being from the kitty of the talented director, the super talented producers and for the unique story line.
