Audio Review : Predictability at play

Chaahat - Ek Nasha is Manisha Koirala and director Jai Prakash’s second movie together after Market. Preeti Jhangyani, Aryan Vaid and Sharad Kapoor include the rest of the cast. The story supposedly revolves around the life of pop divas Madonna and Britney Spears. Well, this love triangle thriller is more on the line of skin show and bold scenes as far as the promos narrate. The music is by Anand Raj Anand and Praveen Bhardwaj has done the lyrics.

The first tracks opens with a good note with Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik crooning the romantic song ‘Yeh Chehra’. This melodious song with their honey-touched vocals goes for an appreciable track. The composition is good and Anand Raj Anand keeps up the show.

Something different from the first romantic track appears as ‘Dil Ki Baatein’.   Babul Supriyo, Vinod Rathod, Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal render the song beautifully. Praveen Bhardwaj needs a mentioning here for making the track a likeable one with apt lyrics. Much of the punch of the track is rendered by the lyrics. All in all, it goes to be fine to the mood and the ears.

As the story revolves on the note of pop world, there appears a stage song. Manisha Koirala apparently performs this track called ‘Mallika’. The song is well composed and the lyrics go along to personify the character. The lyrics may sound like one heard before, but don’t go by the words for the tune is entirely different.

On the notes of love is the romantic song ‘Ishq Ki Raat’. The highlight of the track is Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal. The composition is okay but sounds a bit bare. The lyrics are pretty predictable but don’t harm the flow of the track.

Vinod Rathod and Shreya Ghoshal appear with ‘Chura Liya’. This is another melodic love track by the duo which passes efficiently. The composition though is not much innovative, as Anand Raj Anand seems to be playing one of his former tracks. But the feel of the songs definitely holds on to you.

Its time for pop diva Preeti Jhangyani too render a stage show on the screen. The new singer Tarranum sings ‘Dilbar’ for her. The track is on a seductive line and Tarranum gives a fine rendition to it. She has the potential to make her voice work and her first track gives a glimpse to it.

Anand Raj Anand composes nothing spectacular and nothing more can be expected out from him when the movie is itself on a linear line. But at least he has kept the tracks floating which will definitely give a good company to the movie. The one thing that appears erroneous is the display of names on the inlay cards, as Vinod Rathod isn’t given the credit for ‘Dil Ki Baatein’ and for ‘Chura Liya’ his name is replaced with Babul Supriyo’s. Such mistakes need to be rectified!
