Movie Review : The Story of the Invisible - Jithan

Producer:RB Choudhary
Director: Vincent Selva
Cast: Ramesh, Pooja, Sharat Kumar, SV Sekar, Livingston, Nalini
Music: Srikanth Deva

Super Good Films latest venture, Jithan has been released. This time, RB Choudhary’s eldest son, Ramesh is making the grand debut. His younger brother, Jeeva made his debut some time back in a Telugu film and now it is the turn of Ramesh to emulate Jeeva.

The story, which begins in a customary note, later turns into a crisp and interesting fare with many twists and turns.  The film lay centered around Ramesh, who is in love with her neighbour, Pooja. Pooja looks very enthralling in some scenes.  But, Ramesh is an uninteresting and foolish type of character. He is always the laughing stock in front of his friends and others. To add to this, he is disgraced once in front of everybody by his Lover’s lover, played by Mukesh.

He could not stand the embarrassment and goes to the seashore and starts crying continuously in front of an ancient nondescript statue of a deity.  Suddenly, to his amazement, the deity gets active and blesses him with an unique boon. The boon is that, Ramesh could become invisible at any time, anywhere.  Though this type of concept is far from truth, in films, everything happens and it could be condoned.  Once he gets the power of invisibility, Ramesh gets into a different frame of mind and begins to seek vengeance on those who made fun of him including Mukesh and his not so good mother, played by Nalini. He goes to a bit extreme when he steals money from bank to get married to Pooja. This leads to a lot of trouble and then enters SharatKumar as DSP. ShararKumar has acted in a cameo role in the film.  Ramesh gets into a state of getting almost mad and creates confusion all over the city.  The rest of the story depicts the consequences of his deeds and the efforts of the DSP.  The climax is interesting.

Ramesh, in his first film is impressive enough, particularly in song sequences. He acts better in the second half being the invisible man.  He is effective while showing his emotions and other touching scenes.

SharatKumar, because of his association with RB Choudhary might have acted in this film in a small role. He does not have much scope except an action scene.  All through the film, Pooja, the heroine remains as the Lover of Mukesh. But Poor Mukesh is not allowed even a single duet with his ladylove. All the duets were between Pooja and Ramesh. Nalini has given a standout performance as the cruel mother. She has enough scenes to express her cruelty all through the film.  Livingston acts as the silent and innocent husband of Nalini. Kalabhavan Mani and SV Sekar act in other supporting roles.

As far as the music is concerned, Srikanth Deva gives some good numbers. Already two songs are being hummed everywhere, which goes like ‘Epang Supang’ and ‘Coimbatore Penne’.

Judgment - Jithan, though an unconventional story is watchable due to the lively acting of the lead cast and some interesting events.
