Sheesha stars the former Miss India Neha Dhupia and Sonu Sood, who appeared in a supporting role in Yuva. The promos give the notion that it is going to be another skin show round for Neha alike her previous release 'Julie'. The story is about infidelity in love in which both gets trapped into. It’s being produced by Guddu Dhanoa, Sunil Saini and Deepak Sharma and is directed by Ashu Y. Trikha. The music is by Sen Brothers.
The album begins with a romantic track ‘Yaar Ko Maine’ by Kunal Ganjawala. His voice is something you can cash on. This is true to this instance too, for the song appears excellent in every aspect. Maya Govind has penned the lyrics for the soulful track. The song repeats once again by Madhushree and in an instrumental version. Both of them pull along decently.
‘Assi Ishq Da Dard Laga Baithe’ in the voice of resonating Richa Sharma is a pain inflicting song. She does succeed in delivering the needful. The number is a situational track and better screening may lend an effective feel to the song. An instrumental of the track follows soon after, imbibed with the tone of pathos with some blurted line from Shehzad. The mood of the album trails off to a further depressive note with ‘Moods - Sheesha’. It is just a rehash of the former track with additional ragas and alaaps. Melancholy is fine, but so much of it is intolerable!
Shehzad appears again along with Alka Yagnik for ‘Main Ho Gayi Athrah Saal Ki’. It is a very ordinary stuff and not the kind of song anybody deserves. The song just measures up to disappointment.
With the required romantic, maudlin, playful and instrumental numbers filling up the track so far, we are left out with a seductive number. ‘Sheesha - Theme Music’. You can rightly expect some moans, cries and heavy sighs here. Apart from this though there is fusion music running in the background. Whether you would like to hear it or see it, it’s entirely your choice.
Something different appears with ‘Mujhe Jeena Sikha Do Na’. Shreya Ghoshal and Kunal Ganjawala together owe the credit for making the track as soulful as Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai (Jism). Nida Fazli who has done the lyrics also deserves a special mention for justifying the track. Nonetheless, the composition and style also is also worth mentioning. This track is invariably the best in the album.
Guddu Dhanoa turns a bit of a lyricist with ‘Kar Mundya’. Sonu Kakkar who has previously stormed with her rendition in Babuji Zara Dhire Chalo tries the same effect here. The catchy tune and the foot tapping beats definitely lift the song to make it a rage amongst the masses.
Sheesha is a customary album with tracks ranging from average to semi-average. There shouldn’t be much expectations laced to the tracks. And who is expecting anyways!
