Director: Irfan Khan Cast: Asad Sikandar, Aseem Merchant, Iqbal Khan, Saadhika, Rosy Music: Anand Raj Anand, Somesh Mathur Lyrics: Anand Raj Anand, Somesh Mathur Singers: Neha Bhasin, Gauri Bapat,
Once in a while comes a movie that leaves you pondering, either about the title or theme or star cast. Bullet? Ek Dhamaka really fits the bill in all aspect. It’s said to be a masala flick or rather an International flick to be presented by 20th Century Fox. The star cast is deviant too with Asad Sikandar, Aseem Merchant, Iqbal Khan, Saadhika and Rosy. Whatever the good will of the movie be, Irfan Khan the director seems to be coming with glamorized appeal with an International look for the Indian audience.
Anand Raj Anand and Somesh Mathur are out there for the musical score of this unconventional movie. It’s yet to be found out how much the duo is able to keep up with the eccentricity. As the film has an International look and appeal, the music also follows the same essence.
The soundtrack opens with ‘Bullet? Ek Dhamaka’. Got a shock of eccentricity. Well this was bound to happen, sooner or later. It’s predictably a situational song, with composition by Somesh Mathur and in the Viva la voice of Neha Bhasin (Viva fame). The talented singer has weaved her vocal power meticulously to lend the desired appeal. The westernized note beautifies the song making it appreciable but it doesn’t tally with the proximity of a movie.
The endowed, Anand Raj Anand doesn’t fail to be in the best form with ‘Mushkil Nahi Tha’. He has done the singing, writing and composing all by himself. Gauri Bapat does a female part of this romantic number. The composition again features western feel. Overall, nothing gripping!
Turn by turn! Somesh Mathur wields the mike with a ghazal ‘Aahat Suni Maine’. The rendition is a somber affair. To the surprise Neha Bhasin does the words for the song. A sad version of this song also repeats. It’s a modest number.
Taking twist from the former solemn number is ‘Dhoka Dhoka Hai’ by Anand Raj Anand, the creator and composer. The track is quite jazzy and it co-ordinates well with the movie. ‘The Dance Of Destruction’ is another theme track that continues with the same punch.
The sequel of Ishq Kabhi Kariyo Naa comes as a Sufi flavored song ‘Ishq Asaan Hai’. Nobody else but Daler Mehendi has given his vocals. But even the best elements fail to put the song on a throng.
Bullet? Ek Dhamaka is the anthology of not so happening number. It will fail to make its way to glory because the compositions lag the quality to click. There is no temper in the songs to stand on its own. That is because most of the numbers are situational and lacks substance to become an earshot.
