Movie Preview : Bewafaa (2004)

Producer: Boney Kapoor
Director: Dharmesh Dharshan
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Sushmita Sen and Anil Kapoor
Music: Nadeem-Shravan

Relationship, values and morals are good fodder to watch. But not at the expense of watching the same tale again and again. Audience expects novelty and freshness when they head for a cinema and Bewafaa invariably lacks in this respect.

Boney Kapoor recent movies like Khushi and Kyun Ho Gaya Na met with debacle. Since a long time he has not been able to strike the chord and stir the audience. His future is bleak with debts and his hope rests on the forthcoming release Bewafaa. The star cast follows Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Sushmita Sen and Anil Kapoor in the lead. Manoj Bajpai and Shamita Shetty appear in special role while Priyanka Chopra does an item song. Dharmesh Dharshan is directing the movie and Bewafaa is supposedly the biggest movie of his career. Nadeem-Shravan has come up with some melodious and hummable tunes for the movie.

The story winds up with Anjali (Kareena Kapoor) and Aarti (Sushmita Sen) the daughters of Kabir Bedi and Nafisa Ali, settled in Canada. Anjali falls in love with an upcoming musician Raja (Akshay Kumar) but is petrified to disclose it to her parents. It’s only Aarti who knows about it and promises to get them married with parents consent. But fate does the otherwise. Aarti passes away while giving birth to twins and circumstances pull Anjali to marry her brother-in-law, Aditya Sahai (Anil Kapoor). Aditya is a business tycoon and is engrossed in work most of the time. Anjali however keeps the promise of a true wife and takes care of the family well. But she fails to love her husband and bridge the gap between them.

Everything goes fine until Raja emerges in Anjali's life again. They have an affair again and soon Aditya comes to know the reality. The ultimate! Well that you’ll have to check out with the movie.

The film is scheduled to release in the month of January 2005.
