Vashu Bhagnani and Satish Kaushik, the super hit pair of ‘Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai’, promises more with ‘Vaada’. This producer-director duo along with a star cast of Arjun Rampal, Amisha Patel and Zayed Khan with Himesh Reshammiya and Sameer handling the music department, had a grand music release.
The album starts off with the title song 'Vaada hai Yeh' by Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik. This is definitely not, what the beginning of a soundtrack should start with. The track is monotonous with the use of violin, sitar, and keyboard. There is a slow version of the number that makes an appearance after a break, but it too doesn’t bring forth any difference. Newcomer Sangeeta takes a turn towards a sad theme with Kumar Sanu and does the same solo version with piano in the background.
‘Main Ishq Uska’ also doesn’t bring anything exclusive. Both Babul Supriyo and Kumar Sanu in the number hardly make them distinguishable. Alka does join in but only to hum in the background. Utter senseless in all facet!
The not happening tracks continue to follow. ‘Teri Kurti Sexy’ by Shaan and Anuradha Sriram also misses the category of a chartbuster. Nothing seems to hold on to it. Though the song is a foot tapping number it doesn’t lend a major help in going with the crowd. The track again repeats but with the same voices later in the album.
‘Maula’, by Kavitha Seth is a fusion of Western and Sufi styles. A probable item song, at par with the much necessity of the movies of present. To complete the unaccomplished score, it again comes up for the second time.
The only reminiscent number that we come across in ‘Vaada’ is ‘Ud Ud Ud Jaaye’. It is a racy song with a touch of Sufi flavour, sung in a semi-quawalli style by Kailash Kher and Sunidhi Chauhan. Kailash is excellent with the vocals, while Sunidhi employs her husky voice, and succeeds in sounding seductive. The tracks end with ‘Main Deewana’ a not at all Himesh Reshammiya kind. Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik do the vocals in a sad slow tune. Just okay!
On the whole, the tracks are regular, except for one of two songs and can be rated as just normal. At the end of the day, one is sad to find the outcome, as the reputed names from the industry are associated with it. Though ‘Vaada’ may be backed by a strong story line, but the impact that the music lends is disgusting. It will miss out to score on the box-office chart due to the deficiency in the musical track!
