Trimurti films pvt ltd's "GUPT" is a lavishly mounted muder mystery with spine chilling thrills,breath taking action and beautiful locates added with hypnotisting and haunting music.

Governer Jaisingh Sinha (Raj Babbar)is married to Shardadevi (priya Tendulkar) a widow who has a young son Sahil (Bobby Deol)from an earlier marriage.Jaisingh & Shardadevi have a son harsh (Master Harsh Lunia),a little boy from their marriage.Sahil always has a deep hatred towards his steps father despite Jaisingh going all out of his way to pour his love for sahil.Shardadevi just remain a silent suffer.But one day governer Jaisingh confides in his family lawyer Thanawala (Raza Murad) and family doctor (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) that one day Sahil will realise his step father's love for him.

In collage sahil meets his childhood sweetheart Isha dewan (Kajol) who is just back from her boarding school. Isha's father ishwar diwan (paresh Rawal) is personal assistant to governer Jaisingh.Sheetal chaudhary (Manisha Koirala) is in the same collge of sahil & silently but madly in love with Sahil for some years through Sahil is not aware it.

When Sheetal's father Megnath Chaudhary (Dalip Tahil),an ambitious,cunning business tycon comes to known about Sheetal's love for Sahil,He sets up a dirty plan which misguides governer Jaising & Shardadevi to belive that both Sheetal & Sahil are in love with each other and want to get married.Meghnath is dead shure that with governer behind him,he will be able to expand his business emopire futher with manny more foreign collaborations.
Jasingh sinha sees an opportunity where he could win over Sahil's heart and innocently announces Sahil's engagement With sheetal at Sahil's birthday party.Sahil gets outraged and furious because at the same time he was going to proclaim his love for Isha.Sahil confronts his step father.Galore of abuses,heated arguments takes place between step father and step son.Sahil makes a murderous attempt with birthday cake-knief on Jaisingh but is timely stoped by shardadevi.Amongst the people present in the party are minister Goverdhan Tiwari (Prem Chopra) and currupt union leader Vilasrao (Sharat Saxena),both of them decides to make a correct use of situation for their ulterior political motives aginst hte governer.

On the next night Sahil goes to confront his step father but finds governer Jaisingh bruttally stabbed to death.Sahil is shocked & worst comes when he finds himself accused of governer's murder.Sahil gets arrested and imprisoned for life sentence after the prosecution.Sahil manages a dramatic escape from the jail which creates wild panic amongst the police and politicians.A smart and headstrong police officer Udham Singh (om Puri)is assigned to catch sahil along with P.S.I.Neelkant (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) and constable Padurang (Ashok Safar).

Now Sahil,left on his own is determined ti find the killer of his step Father and prove his innocence to the world.Obviously this is not an easy task.a wild chase starts with Udham Singh hot on the trial and fatal attempts by unknown assailant on Sahil's life.Adding to the misery Sahil discovers many suspects who have reason to kill his step father for either personal personal or political intrest.

Any finally when the mystery unifods,Sahil comes across a shocking and hidden truth which leads him to the real killer.
