'Aptudu', a Muthyala Subbaiah-directed film on Andal productions, starring Rajasekhar and Anjala Javeri, is a remake of Hindi movie 'Ghatak'. The film is an action thriller in which Raja Sekhar is taking up the role of a police officer.
The shooting of this film was started on 1st of April and went on till 6th of April. The second schedule was started on 19th of April and this schedule would continue till the completion of talkie part of the film. This film is aimed at the release in the last week of August 2004.
With this film heroine Anjala Jhaveri is making a comeback in Telugu films after a break of two years. She is playing the character of a girl who stays in the same colony where the hero resides.
Suman is playing a guest role in this film and Vyjayanti, a noted television actress, is paired up with Suman. The role of the bad guy is taken up by Mukesh Rushi and he has six younger brothers who are also villains. Actor Sunil is doing the role of auto driver in this film and his role is a full length comedy role. In addition, artists like Kondavalasa, Krishna Bhagavan, AVS etc. are shoring up the comedy.
'Aptudu' is Raja Sekhar's 9th film in the direction of Muthyala Subbaiah. And Raja Sekhar is working with music director Ramana Gogula and cameraman Bhupati for the first time.
The song Palle Palle Ku...Hanumadu is shot at the Keesara village, 40 kms from Vijayawada, in the backdrop of the world's tallest (100 ft) Lord Hanuman statue. Raja Sekhar says, "I was awe struck with this magnificient structure when I drow to Vijayawada some time back. In the back of mind I thought that I should make shoot a film here and it has become reality now".
The song sequences were also shot at Papi Hill Ranges alongside river Godavari, that clubs the west and east districts. The temple 'Goshpada Kshetram' at Kovvur is fabulously decorated for this purpose, while a few impressive shots would be canned in Rajahmundry for the songs. Rajasekhar's wife Jeevita produces the flick under the banner of Andal Creations.
