The Bhatts are at it again! One thing they know to do best is movie making. After the success of  ‘Raaz’ they once againc ontinue with the same team hoping to recreate the similar magic. As regards to the music unfortunately their attempt takes them nowhere.

‘Footpath’ is a movie about love and betrayal. It stars Bipasha Basu, Aftab Shivdassani and newcomer Emran Hashmi. Music director duo Nadeem –Shravan who composed the music of Raaz is repeated again. Their trusted lyricist Sameer, even though he is facing a brain drain, is given another chance.

Like all Bhatt movies this one also have some very nice tracks to boast of. The first song ‘Saari Raat Teri Yaad’ is a melodious song in the voice of Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik. It has Nadeem –Shravan stamp all over it. Unfortunately it fails to strike chords with the listeners. Nadeem – Shravan it is the time to rethink your strategies.

If a music director repeats his own creation in another movie what will you call it? Lifting? Copying? The creatively exhausted music director pair has done the same here. They have copy pasted one of their compositions from the movie ‘Hungama’. The song in discussion is ‘Chain Aapko Mila’. It is the exact copy of the ‘Hungama’ song. The only difference being the voice of veteran singers Asha Bhonsle and S.P. Balasubramanyam. With two experienced singers behind the mike this one certainly scores over its original.

It’s high time for the talented music composers to start experimenting. They are repeatedly forcing the same kind of music on listeners. ‘Kitna Pyaara Pyaara Hai Zaman’ is another typical Nadeem –Shravan track. This ‘Shudh Hindustani’ song fails to create ripples in the music world. Why? Because how often can we hear the same old music.  Sung by Alka Yagnik and Abhijeet this song sinks without a trace.

‘Zara Dekh Mera Deewanapan’ has Nadeem –Shravan favorites Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik behind the mike. It is a nice track. But lacks freshness.

‘Dost Milte Hai’ is the better among the last three tracks. This sad track is very touchy and mournful but lacks in originality. But still this one manages to stay afloat. The female version of this song ‘Dil To Milte Hai’ is an average track. Alka Yagnik croons this one.

After all these Nadeem – Shravan tracks Himesh Reshammiyya gets a chance to show his talent. He is the man of the moment and grabs this chance thrown at him with both hands. The result is a fast paced item number ‘Soorat Pe Teri Pyaar Aaye’. Rendition of this song is a joint effort by Hema  Sardesai, KK and ‘Himesh Reshammiyya man Jayesh Gandhi. A nice picturisation to this song may heat up the musical charts.

With this album Nadeem-Shravan have once again proved that they need rest. They need a break to rejuvenate their sinking musical reservoir. Unfortunately for the Bhatts this one doesn’t fare like their earlier ones.
