Audio Review : Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha (2004)

Music: A R Rahman and Himesh Reshammiya
Lyrics: Sameer, Sameer
Singers: Alisha Chinoy, Alka Yagnik, Gayatri, Jayesh, Kamaal Khan, Kartik, Kay Kay, Madhushree, Pamela Jain, Raquib, Sadhana Sargam, Sonu Nigam, Sujata Trivedi, Udit Narayan

In Atul Agnihotri’s Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa, A R Rahman composes three numbers, penned by Mehboob, and Himesh Reshammiya five, written by Sameer.

Rahman’s title track is melodious, with Sujata Trivedi singing smoothly and Kamaal Khan chipping in with a cameo. Jane Bahara (Kamaal Khan-Sadhana Sargam) doesn’t stick on you, and Zindagi Hai Dua (by various singers) contains good experimentation in its arrangements.

Reshammiya is crisp on some tracks. Bindiya Chamakne Lagi is the standard bindiya-choodi-payal song with a predictable tune, but it’s got mass appeal. Alka Yagnik sounds superb here, though Udit Narayan is restrained.

Yeh Dil To Mila Hai (Sonu Nigam-Alka) and Meri Nas Nas Mein Tum Ho (Udit-Alka-Jayesh) have been well-written.

Go Balle Balle (KK-Alisha Chinai-Jayesh) is a catchy Punjabi song that strays from the routine. A few good songs, though the effect wears off after a while.
