‘Ek Se Badkar Ek’ started long back but was completed only recently. Kundan Shah who gave us Kya Kehna, a movie on the plight of an unwed mother, is the director of this movie. This Pammi Sandhu production casts Suniel Shetty, Raveena Tandon, Issha Koppikar, Shekhar Suman and Gulshan Grover. Anand Raj Anand and Dev Kohli are the music directors.
The first song of this album is ‘Aankhon Hi Aankhon Mein’. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Anand Raj Anand composes it. Kumar Shanu and Sunidhi Chauhan sing this song. The singing is very average. Sunidhi Chauhan who is a master of these kinds of rhythmic songs could not do justice to this one. There is another version of this song crooned by Ananad Raj Anand and Anuradha Sriram. This song is average in music, lyric and singing.
Next song is much better. It is about a man who wants to be the most famous don and a girl who dreams of catching the most wanted don. This is contemporary in musical arrangements. Abhijeet and Sadhana Sargan sing this song very passionately. Their singing is very energetic and powerful.
‘Phir Se’ is a promotional song. This song from Abby’s private album was very famous some years back. Abby does a multi tasking here. He writes the lyrics, composes it and also sings it. This one is very appealing to the ears.
After this promotional song comes a foot- tapping number- ‘Tujhe Dekha Jab Se’. Abhijeet along with Sonu Nigam and Shweta Pandit sing this number. This is the same old bollywood song and dance track. But the singers with their spirited rendition make it interesting. This song has Abhijeet at his best.
Meri Aankh Nashili is a Punjabi bhangra track sung by Jaspinder Nerula and Anand Raj Anand. This song features a woman in inebriated state. There is nothing fresh about this song. You forget this one the very next moment.
‘Pardei Dhola’ is another Punjabi track. This one is from Jassi’s private album. The song is written by Gurbhajan Gill and composed by one of the leading Punjabi composer Jaidev Kumar. This looks like another promotional song.
The album ends with the song ‘Dheere Se Jaana’. This may be the worst track in this album. Babul Supriyo and Alka Yagnik sing this song. This song composed by Anand Raj Anand looks like an A.R.Rahman composition.
In short, this album has nothing much to offer to the music lovers. The songs from the private albums of Jassi and Abby are the only good tracks in this entire album.
