'Waqt' - The Race Against Time’ brings back Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and director Vipul Amrutlal Shah together after Aankhen.  Aadesh Shrivastava did the vivacious tracks of Aankhen, how far Anu Malik makes this work, lets find out!  Sameer and Aatish Kapadia have penned the lyrics.

Simplicity at its best. This is the message that ‘Subah Hogi Shaam Hogi’ the first track carries. The lyrics and tune are simple and Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik make it more down to earth with their vocals. Though the track is commonplace yet it works fine.

‘Miraksam’ is a fun-filled track with some vibrant Punjabi lyrics. The vivacity of the track is sure to catch every ear and will climb to popularity in no time. The presence of baritone voice Sudesh Bhonsle makes it obvious that the song will be picturised on Amitabh Bachchan. Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan and Mahalaxmi Iyer accompany him with fine renditions from their part. The song has some rap too, which adds to the charm.

‘Toot Gaya’ is a sentimental track dealing with relations. The words of Sameer are heartfelt and add to the feel of the song. The voice of Kailash Kher further illuminates the sensitivity. He outdoes again. Anu Malik deserves a mention here for his insight into music and the use of sitar and veena in the track to induce the poignant feeling.

‘Tandav Music’ just takes you by storm and makes you applaud once again for Anu Malik for his super fine composition. The base is classical with the use of traditional Indian instruments. There is also the repeat of the track that pop up later.

Follows a romantic duet ‘Chup Jaa’ by the admirable Sonu Nigam and the splendid Sunidhi Chauhan. Their merge of the vocals makes the song impressive. The use of chorus by Anu Malik is also remarkable.

Anu Malik gets into a bit of crooning with ‘Lets Play Holi’. The tune is peppy and catchy at the initials. But the use of the tune ‘Dhol Baje’ from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam midway just doesn’t co-ordinate. This gives a half-baked feel to the track. Sunidhi Chauhan does her graceful part accompanying Anu Malik with her vocals.

When Adnan Sami and Sonu Nigam merge, the outcome has to be undoubtedly brilliant. ‘Apne Jahan’ just proves that! But Anu Malik again interrupts with the tune of ‘Its Magic’ in the mid section.

The album has a good start but an average ending. For the good and the ugly, if anybody is responsible, it’s Anu Malik. But some originals nonetheless add to the charm and are worth repeated listening. Overall it’s a good album to lend your ears to!
