Direction: Parthiban Cast: Parthiban, Madhumitha
Actor-director Parthiban is known to be among the best innovators in the Tamil film industry and is never afraid to try them out in his movies. He is at it again with his latest, Kudaikul Mazhai. This time too, he has come up with a different storyline - that of a youth with schizophrenia (psychotic disorder characterised by distortions of reality and disturbances of thought and language and withdrawal from social contact). However, the sagging screenplay apparently restricts the flow of the story.
Parthiban is an auto-rickshaw driver, who comes across a young girl, Madhumitha, who instantly falls in love with him. Though he doesnt take her seriously initially, she keeps running into Parthiban often. Over a period of time, he develops a liking for her. Assuming that the girl loves him, he spends all his money and time on her. However, a shock awaits him, when he returns from Tirupati. Madhumitha turns out to be an anchor for a satellite TV channel, who discloses that she pretended to be in love with him, only for a show televised for her channel.
This is enough to change the course of Parthibans life. This drives him desperation and leads him to take the extreme step - end his life. He gets affected with schizophrenia.
Debutant Madhumita, a Mumbai model, looks stunning. She seems to done a neat job.
Karthik Rajas tunes sound good. Parthiban, as an actor, producer and director, takes the honours.
On the flip side, the second half drags a bit, with Parthiban himself donning the role of the twin brother, who shouts whenever he appears on screen.
Dull screenplay and dramatic sequence of events seem to hamper the flow of the film.
