Audio Review : Patchy work

Direction: Parthiban
Cast: Parthiban, Madhumitha
Music: Karthik Raja
Lyrics: Muthukumaran
Singers: S P B, Tippu, Ranjith, Antriya, Sujatha, Suchithra

R Parthipan and Illayaraja’s association has belted some terrific results. Karthik Raja has also merged with the producer- directors new release Kudaikul Mazhai. The fans are waiting to get the hangover the Illayaraja’s effectiveness.

Music favorite SPB returns to the music scene with ‘Enga Poyi Solluvaen’. SPB sounds the same due to the lack of improvisation. It’s a decent song but nothing new or extraordinary.

‘Onnu Rendu Moonu’ by Tippu adds to the upbeat singing. The cheerful style of music supports the positive mood and the commendable job in renditions. The lyrics mark a tentative inadequacy for the track.  Hariharan does another version of the song but the effect is very constricted.

‘Adiye Kiliye’ by the ace director Illayaraja will definitely be a blockbuster on the charts for a long time. His glory still shines forth. The music is soulful and mellow. Parthipan, Karthikraja and Kartik had jointly built up the lyrics and have ended up with a perfect job. Watch out for this one!

The theme music demonstrates the talent of Karthik Raja in full luster. It is his hallmark.

‘Oru Kottaikkul’sung by Ranjith, Antriya, Sujatha and Suchithra falls flat on its face due to the offbeat instrumentation. A song that will definitely take some getting used to! Even Pada Pada vena by Karthik too is a disappointment.  But ‘Kudaikul Mazhai’ and ‘Adiye kiliye’ hints at the powerhouse piece of music. It is a definite asset to a great soundtrack.

Karthik Raja has lapped up a good soundtrack with harmonized instrumental work and quality acoustics. But Muthukumaran’s lyrics are a major let down. How much the tracks mend the ruin, only time can decide!
