Director Saran, who made the film 'Amarkalam' with Ajith earlier, now made this movie with him again. They might have thought one Ajith may not be enough for this 'Attagasam'. So they added another Ajith (Dual role).

Ajith is running a Driving school along with his mother Sujatha. Babu Antony, a goonda turned politician,' occupies ' the place next to the driving school forcibly. When he came there to do Boomi Pooja for his place, he happened to see Sujatha. He was the one who killed 'Nizhalgal'Ravi, the husband of Sujatha. Now in a small flash back scene they show that to save the small boy Ajith who saw Antony, killing his father, Sujatha, gave him in adoption to a couple living in a foreign country. Antony suspects that the small boy now turned man may take revenge on him. But Sujatha explains that, the son who was with her was the younger son and he does not know anything about what had happened. The other son who knows about what happened is now in foreign country, and she did not know his whereabouts. Meanwhile, Pooja, who came to Ajith, in search of a pair for her dog got attracted by him. At the same time, Ajith who goes to Tuticurin to help his friend in the matters of love was received with respect and fear reserved for big Dadas. He also get big amount of money! Ajith does not know that these respects are for real Dada who also happened to be his own elder brother!

But the elder Ajith understood what had happened. The hatred towards him younger brother and the mother who had given him away in favor of her younger son, returns with force. He plans in such a way that, he gets the innocent Ajith in the clutches of his own powerful enemy and Dada Mahadevan. Then he changes places with his brother and comes to Chennai. He makes his mother's life miserable by hurting her in many ways. However, he soon realized that his mother gave him for adoption only to save his life!

Then he remembers Babu antony and everything that had happened completely. So both the Ajith join hands together and destroys the Villanins. This is story of 'Attagasam'.

Just as in Vaali, Villain, Ajith had done a splendid job in 'Attagasam' also. The younger Ajith Jeeva who runs a driving school is a soft and innocent character. The elder Ajith, a Dada, who intends to make the life of his mother insurable and does it with a vengeance. Ajith had enacted these scenes beautifully.

He was paired with Karunas in 'Villain' in the comedy scenes, asking the question 'Is this your Duck?' same pair does it again in 'Attagasam'. Here the comedy is based on an autoriksha. When ever Karunas starts the auto Ajith and his friends pull the auto from behind, thus making it difficult for Karunas to start the auto. Then telling him that the reason for the auto's starting problem is the position of the mirror and that it should be reversed!

Then whenever Karunas faced the starting trouble with the auto, he is telling everybody other that the mirror position being the reason and gets drubbed because he 'applies' the same 'trick' to get an auto started!

Pooja is young and energetic beauty. But she hasn't got much chance to perform in this movie. In the scene, where herself, Ajith and her friends consults a sexologist about her dog, thinking that he is a Vet. Doctor reeks of double meaning adult dialogues. Sujatha is in her usual self as the mother. The way she treats the killer of her husband with feast, and also requesting him to get back her son from police station are just too much to take. Babu Antony and Mahadevan are usual Villains. Ramesh Kanna is acting as the friend of Dada Ajith.

Saran had done a good job having given a action movie mixed with comedy. In the scene where the younger Ajith, who got switched over in the place of Dada Ajith, escapes from Mahadevan is simply superb and had strengthened screenplay. To be more specific, Ajith, who calls his killer Mahadeven over the mike in Tiruchendur Temple and make him pay donation, and also makes his gang to 'tonsure' their heads makes it a good scene.

Super Subbarayan's stunt actions are aggressive and fast paced. A.L.Venkatesh's Camera had pictured the song sequences beautifully. All songs are written by Vairamuthu.

Bharadwaj scored the music. The songs Pollachi Mappillai, Eichcendru Nachchendru, Thalapol varuma songs are hit songs.

On the whole, they have done by a splendid job!
