‘Ek Hindustani’ as the title suggests is a patriotic flick. But its music differs from the rest of the movies in this genre. This Anand Raj Anand and Daboo Malik musical creation has a variety of sound tracks from romantic to mournful and teasing to patriotic. Even though the music sounds familiar, it has the ability to make you sit through the album. Veteran lyricist Anand Bakshi’s verses are soulful and touchy. The same holds true for Praveen Bharadwaj lyrics. After this brief introduction let us go and check out the predominantly romantic compositions.

This T-Series presentation unfolds with a slow and sentimental track ‘Aap Mujhe Ache Lagne Lage’. Even though the title resembles a track from Hrithik Roshan movie, this track comes nowhere close to it. This Daboo Malik, Praveen Bharadwaj creation looks like a song from 90’s. Even the sad version of this same track is no different. Sonu Nigam lends his voice to this one.

‘Chori Chori Dil Diya Tha’ is the best song of this album. Anand Bakshi’s lyrics are romantic to the core. Unfortunately Anand Raj Anand’s music is ordinary and lacks charm. But the exceptional singing of the seasoned vocalists, Udit and Alka makes up for the downfalls.

The same holds true for this romantic number also. Sung by Udit and Alka ‘Mohabbat Ko Hum Chod Dein’ lacks in freshness and novelty. Even then this frequently repeated tune falls sweetly on our ears.

This peppy, fun filled track ‘Sone Waale Neend Se Jaago’ puts you to sleep. The main reason for this is the disinterested rendition of the singers Sonu, Alka and Anand Raj Anand. Even the lyrics of Anand Bakshi lack the vibrancy it used to have. Overall it wil provide a nice coffee break during the movie.

Continuing with the mushy mood is the next track ‘Yaroon Ka Dil Thodke’. There is nothing special about this song except the lyrics. They are predominantly Punjabi and as a result the music too gains in a bit of pace. Ramshankar and Rajalakshmi sing this emotional number. This new singer combination gives it certain freshness. Yet it lacks the ability to touch the hearts of the listeners.

As we come to the end of this album there pops up a patriotic song. Actually this is not the right place for this number. It should have been somewhere at the top. Even then let us give an ear to this Tinu Anand and Anand Raj Anand rendition. ‘Fauji Jung Mein Jeeta’ urge us to come forward and lend our support to the men at the border.

Suddenly the mood changes from patriotic to romantic. ‘Chalo Acha Judaa Ho Jaate Hai’ is a typical T- Series romantic number. Even the music instruments used in the background sounds the same, dholak and violin. Unfortunately Kavita Krishnamurthy and Udit Narayan croon this stale old composition. They try to breathe life in to this track in vain.

The album comes to an end with this playful track ‘Dilruba Nakhrewali’. Udit Narayan is in his usual energetic mood. But the song fails to fill the air with vigor. So does the lyric.

As there is no expectation from this album, it sounds ok. The off repeated tunes and singers cannot always attract the listeners. Overall this is an album you can skip if you wish. Nothing great about this  musical collection.
