This is Hyderabad based director Mani Shankar’s third film, the first two being ‘16th December and Rudraksh’. His ability of being a good storyteller and managing commendable performances from his cast makes things positive for him. He tries things on lot more complex level with a much bigger canvas. ‘Tango Charlie’ is a war film starring Bollywood heavyweights Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Bobby Deol, Suniel Shetty, Tanisha and Nandana Sen. The film represents brave fighters who readily sacrifice their lives for the sake of safety and security of the country without any expectation of any award or reward.
Produced by Nitin Manmohan, the music of the film has been composed by Anu Malik and Anand Raj Anand. The lyrics are penned by Javed Akhtar. War films like Border and Loc has demonstrated that such films should not necessarily have only patriotic tracks, but love songs can be fitted as well according to the requirement of the film. Tango Charlie too deals with some heart-warming love episodes and as per the audio too beams with romantic and melodious tracks.
‘Odhni Odhli’ resounds in absolute Indian melody sung by Udit Narayan and Madhushree Iyer. The track is visualized on Ajay Devgan and Nandana Sen. Anand Raj Anand presents a good starter to embrace. An instrumental of the track that pops up later is equally gratifying.
Something that brings glimpses of the jawans at the base is ‘Akkad Te Bakkad Te’. The male singers Udit Narayan, Kailash Kher, Kunal Ganjawala and Vijay Prakash sing in a row for the song to be picturised on soldiers. The music is again very Indian and composed by Anu Malik but the flavour is familiar. Anyways it makes for a goods hearing.
Out from the closet of Anand Raj Anand again comes ‘Ek Diwani Ladki’. Shaan and Shreya Ghoshal give a dynamic performance to this pep filled song. They do enough to lift you off your feet. Applaud for the two stunning voices who go ahead to make the composition sound extraordinary.
Romance fills the air with Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal, the veritable best of romantic and melodic tracks takes their turn with ‘Dheere Dheere’. They render this soft track with absoluteness. Though the track by Anand Raj Anand is good it fails to fall into the category of being the best.
Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik sing to the vibrant composition of Anu Malik ‘Kya Bataoon Dilruba’. A song on the shoulders of these two singers will be carried out with perfection that is certain. The song is luminous with melody and rhythm. An instrumental for this track doesn’t deserve a miss either!
A patriotic track ‘Ae Aasman’ is sung by Sonu Nigam with ease and effectiveness. The lyrics are expressive and the music is resounding. Anand Raj Anand has done what was needed from him. Though genres of many such songs float this track cannot be skipped on that note.
Though we don’t strike upon anything that is unusual, yet the soundtrack resounds with melodious and commendable songs. It doesn’t have the quality to shoot but it definitely has the elements to spark. Ranging from good to average tracks, it’ll give you a good time hearing to it!
