Movie Preview : Kakkakurumban (2004)

Director: M.A.Venu
Music: M.Jayachandran
Cast: Siddharth, Meenakshi, Jagathy, Nedumudi Venu

Siddharth wanted to emulate his father, late director Bharathan, by following his footsteps and becoming a good director. But fate had something else in store for this young man when Kamal signed him to do Nammal which turned out to be super hit.

It was a perfect launch for Siddharth and he was flooded with offers to play the tennybopper in campus love stories. But somehow Siddharth was not interested to ‘romance and run around trees’ and was waiting for the right role to do his second film.

Now he is the hero in Kakkakarumban with an offbeat director M.A.Venu, who had earlier done Chakoram based on Lohithadas script that went on to bag a few awards. Kakkakarumban is a teenage love story set in a village milieu and Siddharth plays a very challenging role of Ramesan who is an illiterate introvert.

Ramesan (Siddharth) is an orphan, dark as a crow with a big black mole on his cheek. That why people in the village call him ‘kakkakarumban’. His childhood was also as dark as his looks as he lost his mother at a very young age and had to bear the atrocities of his step-mother. He had to discontinue his studies and work hard for livelihood. Into his dark life enters Meenakshi (Meenakshi) and she changes his life.

After the success of Vellinakshatram Menakshi is looking forward to this film where she has a meaty role. Issac Thomas (Riyaz Khan) also has an important role in the film.

The cast also has Jagathy, Sai Kumar, Asokan, Kochupreman, Ambika, Ponnamma Babu and others. Script is by M.A.Venu and editing is by P.C.Mohan. The songs written by Girish Puthenchery are tuned by M.Jayachandran. The film is distributed by ‘Swargachitra’ Appachan and shot in and around Pattambi.
