Seenu (RP Patnaik), a blind singer lives in a village near river Godavari and wins the hearts of the villagers through his melodious voice. And nature has it that he is completely surrounded by problems (cinematic) like parents suffering from ill health, wayward bother, sister who is being harassed by her husband and another sister yet to be married. There is ofcourse a brighter side in his life which is Vasanthi (Naveneeth kaur), his childhood friend, who is mute and plans to donate one of her eyes to Seenu. Another girl Lakshmi (Priya) also plays an important role in support of Seenu.
Appala Naidu (Prakash Raj) is a Good Samaritan in that village. He takes Seenu to an eye doctor. That doctor says that Seenu has all chances to see the world if a pair of eyes are donated to Seenu. Lakshmi comes forward to donate her eyes to Seenu. Meanwhile, a political acquaintance of Appala Naidu eyes these two girls Vasanthi and Lakshmi. One fine day, he rapes both of them and threatens that Seenu would be killed if they tell this fact to anybody. What sort of developments takes place in Seenu's life (with all these problems) is a tear-jerking story to watch on the silver screen. RP Patnaik is extraordinary in the role of a blind man. His performance is very genuine and is absolutely incredible. He seems to have studied blind men a lot. There is so much of purity and innocence in his dialogue delivery. RP Patnaik wins everybody hearts with his amazing histrionics. Priya is another dusky beauty on Telugu silver screen. Her histrionics are perfect. Sunitha dubbed her voice. For all those guys who wondered how come a beautiful girl like Navneet is pitted against RP Patnaik, here is an answer. She played the role of a dumb girl. She is apt for that role. Both these girls have shown great maturity in enacting certain heavy melodramatic scenes in the second half.
The comedy track is inserted specially with Sunil and others to give some relief. The film is heavy tearjerker. Camera by Soman is pretty good. He did a wonderful job. Music and Lyrics goes well hand in hand. Kalyani played the role of Vasanthi in Tamil and Malayalam. Debutant director E.Srinivas did a decent job in making this remake. He worked as an assistant director to B.Gopal. But B.Gopal's stamp and shades appear no-where in the film. He succeeded in remaking the film following the original and making the changes to adopt the nativity.
Watch this movie if you don't mind leaving the theatre with a heavy heart.
