Movie Review : Rehash that comedy fails to redeem

Producer: D S Rao, Saikrishna Productions;
Director: K V Ramana
Music: 'Vandemtaram' Srinivas
Cast: Rajendraprasad, Raasi, Gurlin, Sunil, Brahmandam and Bharani

Veteran actor Rajendrarprasad holds your interest with his impeccable comic timing in "Oka Pellam Muddu, Rendo Pellam Vodu". Unfortunately, director K.V. Ramana fails to provide him with a sensible plot to make it a winner. The film is just a rehash of "Subalagnam" with peripheral changes.

The agony of a middle-class housewife, Aamani, who dreams of becoming rich by even trading her husband, is missing in the new version. This makes the character of Raasi a mere caricature of the original. She looks good in bits and parts, while Gurlin is wasted in a skin-revealing role.

Even the comedy of Sunil and Brahmandam is highly contrived. The tunes of 'Vandemataram' sound repetitive.

The story goes like this: Rajendraprasad lives happily with his wife (Raasi) and their child in a middle-class colony. But the wife dreams of making it rich by hook or crook. This leads her into serious trouble. Through tortuous developments, she ends up a servant of the second wife (Gurlin) that her husband is forced to acquire. The happy ending comes with both the wives giving birth to baby girls and deciding to live together.

The film does not live up to the promise of the publicity preceding its release.
