Audio Review : Varam (2004)

Music: Keeravani M M
Lyrics: Chandrabose, Sirivennela
Singers: Karthik, Keeravani M M, Mano, Shashipreetham, Tippu, Udit Narayan, arikuppala

OF LATE, Telugu cinema has been witnessing two trends. One, the composers are doubling up as singers. Two, while one composer gives the score, another sings for him. One can see both the trends in the album. Shashipreetham renders a song written by Sirivennela and set to music by M.M. Keeravani. So, the album has all the ingredients essential for its success - including a song by Bollywood singer Udit Narayan.

Udit croons Nachinaave navvula gopemma which is a sweet melody. Next comes a fast paced song Endukante. The only jarring note is that a happy song is followed by a melancholic number by Keeravani - Evarinira preminchaavu, which should have been reserved for the flip side that has three foot-tapping numbers - Emayyindo cheppara babu, Ippudippude and Jabbardastgunnadiro.

This is one album which one can listen to more than once.
