Audio Review : Ehsaas - Disappointing Music

Producer: Nanjibhai Shah
Director: Mahesh Manjrekar
Cast: Sunil Shetty, Neha
Music: Milind Sagar, Anand Raaj Anand, Prajwal Anand
Singers: Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan,  Arun Ingle, Atul Kale, Vaishali Samant, Aditya Narayan, Udit Narayan, Bela Shinde, Kay Kay, Shankar Mahadevan

The man who is known more for his serious movies Mahesh Manjrekar is making his foray into the emotional drama genre with ‘Ehsaas’. His maiden venture has three music directors and five lyricists. Milind Sagar, Anand Raj Anand and Prajwal Anand takes care of the music department while Madan Pal, Anwar Sagar, Pratik Joseph, Praveen Bhardwaj and Shyam Anuragi come together for the lyrics.

‘Tumse Milkar Hua Hai Ehsaas’ is the first track of this album. This Anand Raj Anand composition sounds like a straight lift from the ‘Kasoor’ song ‘Dekha Jo Tumko’. Even the background musical piece is a ditto copy of ‘Keny G’’s saxophone tunes. Bele Shinde and KK lend their voice to this musical swipe.  Due to all these factors the first track fails to impress the music lovers.

Father-son duo Udit and Aditya Narayan holds the mike for ‘Kuch Kehna Hai’. Set to tune like a conversation between father and son this song comes closer to ‘Tu Mera Dil, Tu Meri Jaan’ from ‘Akele Hum Akele Tum’ in feel. But unfortunately this pair fails to touch our heart with their mournful rendition. Mellow and soft flowing this song may look good in the sequence of the movie.

Atul Kale, Vaishali Samant and Arun Ingle croon this lighthearted funny number ‘Juhi Ne Dil Maanga’. In content this is a hollow track. This boasting kind of song makes reference to a number of bollywood actresses, directors and actors. Music sounds stale and repeated. It may cater to the tastes of a particular section of the music buffs.

A celebration track ‘Ek Baar Pyaar’ comes in next. Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan celebrate the New Year with this song. Set to tune in western mode this highly peppy and energetic number makes for a good hear.

After the New Year celebration comes a philosophical track ‘Zindagi Ek Daud Hai’. With minimal orchestration and highly passionate singing this song goes deep into your heart. Shankar Mahadevan comes behind the mike for this number. Purely situational it has an impact on the scheme of the movie.

Aditya Narayan excels in his rendition of the kiddy number ‘Ye Din Bachpan Ke’. With a lovely choreography and some nice beats this song will go well with the junior music buffs. Like the song ‘Chota Bacha Jaan Ke’ from ‘Masoom’ this too exudes with innocent mischief and grit.

This album also contains some borrowed numbers from movies like ‘Yaadein’, ‘Yeh Raste Pyar Ke’ and ‘Ajnabee’. Unfortunately the borrowed numbers sounds good than the originals. Just give an ear to these tracks ‘Yaadein Yaad Aati Hai’, ‘Jo Pyaar Karta Hai’ and ‘Kasam Se Teri Aankhen’ and you can feel the difference.

Unfortunately ‘Ehsaas’ with a huge number of music directors and lyricists fails thoroughly in the music department. There is not even one track in this album that can be called a good song.
