Movie Review : Guri (2004)

Producer: Talamanchi Narasa
Director: Bharat
Cast: Srihari, Sanghavi, Naveen,Dharmavarapu Subramanyam
Music: Suresh

GURI has no logic whatsoever. Its just another age-old revenged story, which has been witnessed atleast 100 times on screen. How can one digest story of a farmer turning violent and terrorizing the whole state by kidnapping the home minister? The film has no twists in climax and fails in every aspect of filmmaking.

Subhas Chandra Bose (Srihari) is an innocent farmer. He toils day and night in fields. But his toiling bears no fruit. His fellow men commit suicide when their cotton crop fails to grow. They incur huge losses and since they are unable to pay back the huge debts they put an end to their lives. Now the blame rests on Bose’s father, who sold the cottonseeds to these farmers. Not able to bear this allegation on Bose’s father, mother and sister also commit suicide.

Bose knows that his father is innocent and tries to prove his father’s innocence. But in vain. Slowly he unravels the truth that it was the political system and government who were the culprits in distributing duplicate seeds. No one believes him. He turns violent and kidnaps the Home Minister (Dharmavarapu Subramanyam) and strikes a deal with the government. So what is the deal? Does Bose reach his goal?

Performance wise Srihari is good. He is better as the innocent farmer. Others performance is nothing great. Music by Suresh is pathetic. Thota M Naidu really needs to improve his camera skills. GURI is a total disappointment.
