Lal Creations is readying its latest offering, a romantic comedy, for the Malayali audience on the occasion of their New Year Vishu.
The directors of "Chathickatha Chandu" are the Rafi-Mecartin duo, known for hits like "Punjabi House" and "Thenkasipattanam".
The title is a comic take on the character Chathiyan Chandu, made famous by Mammooty with his National Award-winning portrayal in "Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha" (1989).
"Chathickatha Chandu" is a romantic comedy starring Jayasurya, the upcoming hero with an extra funny bone. Bhavana, Vineeth, Navya Nair and Lal give him company.
The pairing of Jayasurya and Bhavana has worked in the past. They were paired in "Swapnakoodu" last year and hit it off quite well, especially in the comic scenes. In "Chathickatha Chandu", they are ably supported by Cochin Haneefa and Salim Kumar.
Jayasurya plays the title role of Chandu, the son of a housemaid in a large household. The trials and tribulations that Chandu has to go through because of his name form the theme of the story. Bhavana plays Indira, a rich girl.
Lal has left the music score to his brother Alex Paul. The move seems to have clicked.
The songs are repeatedly being played on the music charts of local cable networks, particularly the two fast-paced numbers "Kakkoti" and "Raina Raina". The lyrics have been penned by Girish Puthenchery.
Saloo George cranks the camera. Art direction is handled by Boban.
Going by the track record of the directors, who have also written the script of the film, "Chathickatha Chandu" promises to be an entertainer.
The film has a budget of around Rs.20 million, foot-tapping music, loads of humour and plenty of melodrama and action.
