Music: Jatin-Lalit, Nikhil-Vinay Lyrics: Israr Ansari, Praveen Bhardwaj, Sameer Singers: Alka Yagnik, Anuradha Paudwal, Babul Supriyo, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Kumar Sanu, Sapna Awasthi, Shreya Ghosal, Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan
The good news is that at least some of the lyrics have depth. The not-so-good news is only a couple of tunes give those words that much-needed charm.
Featuring songs by Jatin-Lalit and Nikhil-Vinay, Zameer is worthy of a few listens anyway. Jatin-Lalit are in form on the Kavita Krishnamurthy-Udit Narayan number Dil Yeh Dua De, which has a melodious tune and Sameer-penned lines like “Dil yeh dua de raha sanam, pyaar zinda hamara rahe, yahan chaahe rahen ya na rahen hum.” On Udit’s Zindagi Ke Faisle Mein, lyricist Israr Ansari impresses on the lines “Zindagi ke faisle mein ham ne yeh bhi toh na socha, khubsoorat khwab se badhke koi hota hai na dhoka.”
Despite a nice hook, Tere Pyar Ne Deewana (Alka Yagnik-Babul Supriyo) grates after a while. Using Sapna Awasthi’s voice, Pardesi Pardesi (which also features Kumar Sanu and Alka) tries to be raunchy, but sounds predictable.
Of the two Nikhil-Vinay songs, the Sonu Nigam-Anuradha Paudwal duet Tum Kitne Bechain Ho is hackneyed, but the duo is more innovative on the Babul-Shreya Ghoshal song Dil Ke Badle Dil To, penned by Praveen Bhardwaj. At best, this is good for a few hearings, before something else catches your fancy.
