‘Silence Please - The Dressing Room’ this title might have given a hint about the theme of the movie. Yes it is related to sports, to be precise cricket. This one stars the former Indian Medium pacer Salil Ankola along with Tom Alter and Sonali Kulkarni. Directed by newcomer Sanjay Srinivas this movie is to be released during the India – Pakistan cricket tie. Jawahar Wattal scores music and Anmol Saxena writes the lyrics.
The album starts with a beautiful song ‘Raat Katne Ko Hai’. This poetic beauty is not an original track from this album. But Jawahar Wattal could not resist this song when he heard it in a non- filmy album. So he used this motivational number in his album. The meaningful lyrics are the work of famous lyricist Gulzar. Alka Yagnik croons this number. There is a male version of this song in Ustad Rafaqat Ali Khan’s voice. The song sounds good in Alka’s voice. ‘Phir Se Khelenge’ is another motivational number. This one is in the context of an India- Pakistan cricket match. The players are motivating each other after an initial set back. This song reveals the Indians passion for the game of cricket. KK’s passionate rendition of this track heightens its appeal. This can be treated as the team anthem of Indian cricket.
‘Run Barse’ celebrates the success of Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar. It is a take on the famous Amitabh Bachan number ‘Rang Barse’. It is the film world’s tribute to the legendary cricketer. Vinod Rathod sings this situational track. A second version of the same song is dedicated to the little master Sachin Tendulkar.
The title song of the movie ‘Silence Please- The Dressing Room’ is very effective. Shaan lends voice to this track.
‘Khelon Mein Pasha Hai’ is another situational track. It is not a haunting melody that will stay with you even after the movie. But within the context of the movie this is a superb composition.
Next track ‘Kaho Bhai Sa Ra Ra Ra Ra’ is a youthful song in the voice of first timers Vicky Singh, Alok Sachdev and Amar Preet Singh. It fails to impress the movie going public. It comes with you till the door of the theatre.
The following track is also in the same mould. ‘Khel Khel Mein’ is a preachy kind of song. It is in the voice of children who appeals to the cricket players and fans in India and Pakistan to take it easy and treat this as another game. Dharna and Gayathri sing this one. Like the rest of the songs this one also sounds good in the movie.
On the whole there is nothing much to talk about the music of this album. The opening track will impress you with its sheer poetic quality whereas ‘Phir Khelenge’ will be remembered for its motivational trait. The rest of the songs are good in the context of the movie. Once out of the movie it dies like a fish without water.
