Audio Review : Masti (2004)

Music: Anand Raaj Anand
Lyrics: Sameer
Singers: Abhijeet, Anand Raaj Anand, Gayatri Iyer, Meghna Oberoi, Shaan, Sneha Pant, Udit Narayan

The first few Indra Kumar films — Dil, Beta and Ishq — had some decent music. But his later lot hasn’t really provided anything earth-shattering — if Mann had some nice songs, many were lifted from Middle Eastern hits.

Anand Raaj Anand’s music in Masti again falls in the ‘average’ category. A couple of songs do create an impact, but by and large, this may not merit too many listens. On Ek Kunwara Phir Gaya Mara, lyricist Sameer is quite funny as he talks about a guy who’s getting married. Udit Narayan and Abhijeet are crisp, and the song has a catchy chorus.

Chori Chori Chhora Chhori (Shaan-Sneha Pant) has English lyrics about meeting on the terrace. Saiyanji Baiyan Chhudake (Gayatri Iyer-Sneha Pant-Meghna Oberoi) is folksy, but predictable. Chain Khuli Ki Main Khuli (Udit-Shaan) tries to be mass-oriented, but gets irritating after a while. Anand Raaj sings the sad Dil De Diya Hai rather expressively. This song and Ek Kunwara… are the better points of an album that doesn’t have much masti.
