Audio Review : Kaun Hai Jo Sapna Mein Aaya (2004)

Music: Nikhil-Vinay
Lyrics: Sameer
Singers: Alka Yagnik, Anuradha Paudwal , Babul Supriyo, Kumar Sanu, Nisha, Shreya Ghoshal, Sneha Pant, Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan

Though Nikhil-Vinay have been around for a while, they haven’t been too prolific — the few films they’ve done include Tum Bin, Papa The Great, Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hai, Muskaan and Zameer (where they did two songs).

In Kaun Hai Jo Sapno Mein Aaya, they come up with some melodious tunes and some awfully predictable ones. The title track (Udit Narayan-Anuradha Paudwal) has a nice melody, but there’s nothing new about it. Mera Sona Sajan (Udit-Sneha Pant) has a strong Jatin-Lalit hangover, and Tere Chehre Pe Marta Hoon (Kumar Sanu-Anuradha Paudwal) is too routine.

Things pick up with Agar Dil Kahe, a pleasant Sonu Nigam-Shreya Ghoshal duet. Udit Narayan is truly expressive on Sabke Chehron Mein, where lyricist Sameer writes: “Sabke chehro mein mujhko aap lage, yeh judaai mujhe milaap lage.” Another neat number comes from Hare Hare Rama (Babul Supriyo-Nisha), which has a peppy beat.

Sadly, the Sonu-Anuradha number Bheegti Aankhon Se drags, and the Udit-Alka song Dupatta Sarak Raha Hai is marked by cheesy lines like “Dupatta sarak raha hai, mera dil dhadak raha hai.” Songs like these take off some sheen from the soundtrack.
