Bollywood is evolving. And idream productions ‘Agnivarsha’ hints at that. This is a one of a kind film that you don’t encounter generally. It is an unusual mythological movie with adequate doses of period and modern drama, directed by renowned Bangalore-based stage director Arjun Sajnani. This debut venture of his is an adaptation from the play ‘Agni Mathu Male’ by playwright Girish Karnad. The film has been invited to the Manchester Film Festival and has graced with standing ovation there.
In this multistarrer, Amitabh Bachchan will make a special appearance as god Indra. Jackie dons the role of chief priest Paravasu. He is the guardian of a holy fire since seven years abandoning his family and other earthly pleasures. His wife Vishakha (Raveena Tandon) is forlorn and this is when his cousin and archrival Yavakri (Nagarjuna) seduces her to seek revenge. Paravasu’s brother Arvasu (Milind Soman) falls in love with a tribal girl Nittile (Sonali Kulkarni). Prabhu Deva plays the role of a demon.
Cinematographer is by Anil Mehta, who has shot internationally hailed films ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ and ‘Lagaan’. Sandesh Shandilya composes the music of the film.
